Day One of sobriety

I just wanted to announce that my quit date is today.  I have been taking around 50 mg of hydrocodone for the past year or so.  I took my last one last night and flushed about 50 down the toilet.  I woke up craving my usual dosage and can't seem to stop thinking of them.  The mental part will be the hardest for me to conquer.  I called in sick to work and plan to use the weekend to detox.  Support is very much needed!  Thanks.

Thanks everyone.  Day 2 and I've already been in the bathroom.  :(  I feel very weak and disoriented.  I'm shaky and my lower back is killing me.  I want to get on my heating pad, but I'm already sweating.  I'm about to try to eat breakfast and take my vitamins.  Will report back soon!

Hi hon, congratulations on being a flusher! I am too! I am on day 54 sober and I am going to tell you that the cravings still come and go. You must always tell yourself, out loud even (I do) that you do NOT want to go through this nastiness again. When the cravings hit, think about how yucky you feel right now because you did take those opiates before and that should help to make those cravings dissipate. Go for a walk, get up and dance, even when you think you couldn't possibly make it down your driveway or through one song. You can and you will. Just turn on music and sing along to it. You will start to feel the old you coming back out in no time and you might be surprised at how amazing you truly are!

Well done Barbie95,I'm in Australia so when most people are in bed in the US I'm wide awake and I don't work so I'll be near my computer which I check regularly,so if you need to talk I'll be here for you.

Barbie, that why we talk about recovery support so much quit thinking about them is the hardest part.I see a therapist it is a better fit for me na/aa was not the right choice for me .I like she my therapist because not only do we discuss the addiction we talk about the triggers and the day to day things that make staying clean hard some time.
As IBK said two and three are the worst then things start to ease up/The nights are the worst good things is there are alot of us late nighters so they may not be many on but there is usually a few ...Hang in there.
