Determine to overcome pill addiction with the help of JESUS CHRIST as HE has promise HE will help me through each and every trial and temptation

I have been taken prescription pills of all sort for years on and off and now I am determine to live life sober and free from a pill. I have come to the conclusion that it does not make since to take a pill to feel go and when I have a pain the pill does not take the pain away.  I want to know what it is to feel happy without a pill, how does life feel and how to live with out taken a pill.  I wouldn't go any where unless I took a few pills first and no one knew that I have been high most of the time.
My question is how long will the cold chills, hot sweats, diarrhea, and confusion last?  Will I ever be able to think clearly again?  Is there permanent damage to my brain?

I thank Gnarly and ColleenToQuit for taking the time to commenting.  I am doing well and I do know that it is because of JESUS CHRIST my LORD and SAVIOUR, DELIVERER.  The first 3 weeks were a fog by everyday I am seeing clearer and my thanking is becoming better focused and I give all Praise to the HOLY WORD of GOD.  Sister's & Brother's whatever your struggle, trial, test, hurt, etc. get a King James Bible, Pray in the name of JESUS CHRIST before you open your Bible and tell GOD in the name of JESUS CHRIST EVERY concern that is perplexing you or someone near and dear to you and continue to pray and watch what GOD will do on behalf of the one you are praying for and for you yourself. I would just like to leave with these words JOHN 6:3 "All that the FATHER giveth ME shall come to ME; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."   MATTHEW 11:28-30 "Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take MY yoke upon you, and learn of ME; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For MY yoke is easy, and MY burden is light."  JEREMIAH 30:17&22 "FOR I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD: because they call thee an Outcast, saying , This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after."  "And ye shall be MY people, and I will be your GOD."
BELIEVE GOD, TRUST GOD, HOPE IN GOD, SEEK GOD, LISTEN TO GOD, EXPERIENCE GOD.
PHILIPPIANS 4:13 &19"I can do all things through CHRIST which strengtheneth me."  "But my GOD shall supply all your needs according to HIS riches in glory by CHRIST JESUS."  JEREMIAH 29:11-13 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Then shall ye call upon ME, and ye shall go and pray unto ME, and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek ME, and find ME, when ye shall search for ME with all your heart."
I am thankful to GOD through JESUS CHRIST and thankful for the HOLY SPIRIT and the TRUE WORD of GOD HE has delivered me from the bondage of pills, cigarettes smoking and drinking alcohol, PRAISE to the LORD, HE is real sister's and brother's trust HIM and believe HIS HOLY transforming Word and allow JESUS to deliver you and save your soul from the enemy(satan) who is trying to destroy you by any means necessary.
Look to JESUS CHRIST and allow HIM to live a Victorious life in you.
I Pray you all get the Victory over the demons of darkness and whatever means they are using to keep you deaf, dumb and blind.

HI and welcome to the forum   it will be aprox 3 to 6 days for most of the physical symptoms to go away the mental side is a different story that can last a lifetime ....first off try not to let fear into the equation it only makes it worst....this is 1/3 phyical 2/3 mental so be prepared to fight on both fronts ....a hot bath helps most of the symptoms it will be your best friend for the next few days....I see you believe in God....thats going to really help with this prayer works...and I couldn't have broke a 16 1/2yr addiction without God...the last 6 1/2yrs where spent on methadone and it took a grueling 8 1/2 mo to get off the stuff going in and out of withdrawals along the way....having faith in God proved invaluable...he got me past every roadblock keep posting for support and read the other posts good luck and God bless
I will check back on you tomorrow .......Gnarly

Vicky, please know that there IS light at the end of the tunnel. You will experience withdrawal symptoms for about 5 days and the confusion will last a few weeks depending on how chronic your opiate use has been. You WILL be able to think clearly again, and about the brain damage, experts don't know yet. Your brain chemistry has changed to "need" the pills to feel normal, so what you feel now is not high anymore. With dependency comes normalcy and this is from the changed brain chemistry. Medical and psychology experts are still studying the long term effects of chronic opiate users and the results are pretty interesting. Some think the chemistry is changed forever but others say it goes back to "normal" within a few years. After you withdrawal you will have strong cravings that will be immensely hard to control. There is a new treatment option called Suboxone that normalizes brain functioning while helping with the withrdrawal and cravings. There is two parts to Suboxone. One is a partial opiate agonist that makes you continuing feeling normal while in the "remission" stage of getting clean and another part that will not allow an opiate to absorb so you will not feel the effects of it if you do end up slipping up and taking pills while detoxing. This second component is called naloxone. It also makes you sick if you do end up slipping so it is a positive reinforcement to not take more pills again. You can continue taking naloxone after stopping Suboxone because it has no narcotic component to it. Think of it as the antibuse of opiates. I hope this helps!
