Effects of drugs during pregnancy?

The mother of my grandchildren is an addict her drug of choice is methamphetamine and dope. Both her children, who are now in my care, have learning problems. The eldest 8 years has tics involving neck stretching, head twisting and arm and hand twisting. Have there been any studies on the effects of these drugs?

Hi granny and welcome! I agree please talk to a doctor about your grandchildren! Be totally honest and I'm sure you will able to get some answers! Also, there is another Forum here called: Substance Abuse, Living with Addicts. Please feel free to post your story there! You will be able to get some advice and support from people who are or have been in your situation. Also, consider checking out Naranon or Alanon. I just wanted to answer and first start off by saying I am so sorry for the disabiities and learning problems your grandchildren are facing. I cant imagine how hard that is, and knowing the cause of that and I wish you the best!

With  that said, I think this question may be best answered by a Dr. While some of us may have medical bach ground, IMO this would be best answered by a medical Dr who can examine the children hands on as well.

Good luck in your search!
