Ive been taking pain meds(percs) for 2yrs, i have a slipped disc, and i dont want the surg to fix it, because i have 4 young children. I took my last 2 yesturday, because this is crazy and i have to be there for my family. I feel tired i dont want to do anything, just sleep and have hot baths. how long will this last before i start to feel normal again?

bad_obsession is right... there are alot of factors that wiegh in on it. But I will tell you if you put your mind to it and leave it to god you will come out on top. I promise...I am 100 days clean from methadone and that is some hard stuff. I have beaten other addictions in the past from hydros and the withdrawals only lasted about 2 days for me. Hi.  Welcome to MH!  Many things play a roll into how long and how bad the WD will be.  Such as your age, how long you were using, you much you were using, and your state of mind when you quit.  But a general time frame is the hard WD will start between 12-24 hours after you stop using, and will last between 3-5 days.  You may have some lingering WD effects that will last a little longer, like lack of sleep and anxiety.  But it's totally doable if you are commited to getting off of the pills.  At the top of the screen, there is a "health pages" link....you can look for something called the "thomas recipe"...it works really well for easing the WD.  If you have any questions or just wanna talk, post here as much as you want.  There are some really helpful people on this site.  Good luck and God bless you!
