Fentanyl

I'm trying to taper Fentanyl & Vicoprofen 7.5 . Would Suboxone be the easier way out or is this combo not that bad. Would be great to hear back from somebody. Thanks, F1swede

Did you ever detox off the Fentanyl and on to Suboxone?? I am about to do the same and I would love to hear your experience.  Thanks!

Please ask your doctor for specifics but when I asked about going off this drug as it was the initial drug prescribed when I went back to using, I was told that sub would take a few days to work for me if it worked at all afer a few days if w/d. I found out that fent saturates in the dermis of the skin first before it is absorbed and disbursed through ur body therefore the long half life. It is also the most powerful drug ever made and again just my experience, but I was told that sub would not work for me for quite a few days. My doctor tapered me down using oxys and then I went off the patch painlessly and stayed on the oxys. This was over a 3 week period of use so I don't think I was fully addicted to the fent. Sounds like your on your way,, I know it's tough as I have heard from a good friend of mine to get off of but you can do it. She just went cold turkey from 150mcg. Have your doctor formulate a plan and do your best!

Just my experience on what I did....

1. I was on 50mg patches
2. I stopped the patches/percs ct to get a baseline on how long I could go without meds; patch has a half life so I had to wait almost 24 hours for full wds.
3. When I couldn't take the wds, I took a half (2.5 perc) a pill
4. For the 1st few days, I needed a 1/2 perc every 50 mins; set my watch alarm to remind me to dose but I knew
5. Gradually lengthened the time until I was about 6 hours apart with 1/2 pill and then quit
6. Used Tyl and Tyl PM to get me through the rest of the wds.
7. Started exercising a week after I quit, dieted, and set fitness goals
8. Never looked back...

Read the PAWS info...great info there.

Good Luck

Thanks for getting back to me. Have about 60 Vicoprofen  and 6 25mcg patches left. My problem is work.I seem to have a  pretty hard time function on a taper schedule. I would like to taper off Vicodin or Percocet but i dont think my Doc will go that way. I know The Suboxone is another animal completly but i'm really scared off the Fentanyl. I started at 25mcg and went up to 100mcg whithin a month and started feeling a bit strange. Called the Doc and he told me to stop and just take the Vicoprofen. Well i thought i was bad on the Fentanyl but stopping it that way really was something. The only reason i think Suboxone is because of the Fentanyl. I'm down to 50mcg very soon to25mcg but it starting to be tough. The Vicoprofen dont really help the W/D anymore. Thansk again for your answers and i will talk to my Doc again. Thanks, F1swede

Ask your doc. He would know for sure. Sub has really helped some people and other it has made things worse. Maybe try a taper.

Best of luck!

Hey There...I used percs to taper from the patch and then tapered the percs to quit. I would not use the sub unless you needed too.  How many vikes do you have?  There's quite a few taper schedules posted here and one should work for you.
