Frustrated

Hey. I had an old post called desperate and ashamed and had tons of help. Thanks. You were great. But now I am frustrated and a little angry. I am on day 10 and don't feel near as well as I hoped. I have not slept one wink. Not one second in 10 days and the foot pain is inscruciating. I am tired and sore and unable to do anything.  How will I know if I have made any progress if I never sleep? Any one else have this happen.  I had such high hopes for day 10

Hey Dude....well I hope your sleeping and not reading this but if you are  just know it is normal ..when I detoxed I thought I was going to go crazy  I had been on methadone at a very high dose for a long time and sleep was impossible  it took around 2 mo to  just get started your at the point where you should start to get some sleep  not good sleep but catnaps  for me it was like toss and turn....toss and tern some more  then I would get 20 min wake up again  toss and turn for a hour  then 20 min again  this went on for quit some time  but slowly it returned   it has been over 5yrs now and I havent seen a good 8hour sleep since my last dose of methadone  today im grateful to get 6 hours  but I have adjusted and fell rested with that  im certain that the methadone ruined my ability to sleep that and 35yrs of active addiction...right now you just got to hang in there and know it will get better with time   keep posting for support....Gnarly

It took me about a month to even get a few hours in here & there. (However, I went c/t off of 3 meds, Methadone, Adderral and a Benzo). Been using for yrs & yrs too.. This is when I finally broke down and picked up some Clonidine. It is a light BP med that they use. Only took it for a few weeks and then I went to all natural things like, Magnesium, Potassium, D's and Calcium. These will help relax the muscles too. I still do my vit/min thing 3 yrs later.

Make sure you turn off all lights and blinking lights. Have the room cool. If you can not sleep then do not fight it. Have the bedding smell like Lavender. Maybe try reading.  I remember back in 2012, I was always up and on here all hours of the day & night. Have Patience as it takes time for all the Brain Chems to Balance out. Also, as the Brain heals it can send some false singles to the Body. Hang Tight YOU will sleep and when you do it will be alot..Catch Up Sleep is what I called it..Ha!  You can also try the Melatonin. This is a natural sleep herb or pill you can by at the stores. Now days they have lots of OTC with natural things mixed in. I wish you the best!

No sleep after 10 days is not out of the ballpark, I'm pretty sure I went like two weeks so son't panic.  You will not die from lack of sleep.

I just skimmed your last thread... 50 perks?  Your dose was the same as mine then roundabout.  I was on about 500mgs +/- some of oxy...  And I noticed that you took some codeine on day 8 was it?  That was not a good idea and will prolong the symptoms, hopefully not by too much but it wouldn't have helped.

I know it's maddening but you've just got to suck it up.  Are you still lying in bed though?  Some horizontal rest at least is better than no rest at all so try to do that if you can.  Spend as much time in possible in a hot bath with epsom salts too (assuming that's an option).  Hope it gets a bit better for you there sooner rather than later!

Yup. No sleep. Not a wink. Sounds exaggerated but true. I keep thinking I'm gonna pass out but nope. I'll drink more water.  I don't want to go to doctors as I don't want more meds but might have to soon. Going a little crazy

Chilly, I have to say 10 days and NO sleep NONE? that's extreme but after 10 years its possible have you been eating and taking vitamins plus staying hydrated? those are very important during the first weeks of recovery/detox and if this continues over the weekend you should see a doc even if its and ER thing just to make sure but pretty soon your body will have to crash best of luck stay strong.

The lack of sleep/anxiety was always the worst on me, they seemed to linger on for a while. Your body is still healing. Everything will be outta whack for a while. The good days will soon overtake the bad ones. But don't be surprised when one sneaks up outta no where.  You know the old saying "just cuz the monkey is off your back doesn't mean the circus has left town". I hope your sleep returns soon, good luck to you and take care:)

Congratulations on your 10 days clean. The lack of sleep is absolutely
normal during detox.
Please try to be patient with the process.
Hun after 10 years of using you cant expect to be fine in 10 days.
Your mind, body and spirit need time to heal.
Your brain needs to repopulate its own natural endorphins, dopamine
And serotonin.
This takes time.
Keep the faith.
Clean eating, lots of fluids, drink protein shakes, eat lean proteins.
Veggies and fruits.
Get as much exercise as possible.
Have you considered counseling, support groups, church?
You need as much support as possible.
You need to learn to live life on life's terms
Keep moving forward.
You are healing. Each day you don't use you are healing.

If it's been 10 days and you haven't slept that can't be good. This is my first time replying on here so please if other people answer take their advice over mine lol. Have you tried all the normal things like sleepy time tea, melatonin, Benadryl if that's okay to take, a hot bath before bed to relax? I imagine if you are not getting any sleep whatsoever then it's best to talk to a dr about it and figure something out with them.
