GABAPENTIN?..after 9 days into c/t off opiates? ?

Hello all, I made a decision 9-10 days ago to go c/t off hydrocodone pills.  I have been through the fiery flame part, now its just some lingering minor pains, and the RLS!  Which is the worst for me, it just wont quit, does anyone know how long this can/will last?  Well I do have the Hylands Restful Legs, and also Gabapentin.  Just wondering will it actually help my leggs, and should I fear of this becoming addictive as well? At this point, Im 9/10 days clean, so sorta afraid to even take it.  Or should I just try to ride the RLS out? Im seriously trying to get through this, can anyone tell me approx. how long their RLS lasted?  And your opinion on starting the Gabapentin at the stage Im at?

Hi there...gabapentin is a good medicine IF it is prescribed to you. Don't take it if it's not. It does relieve nerve pain, etc. but I would try the natural remedies first. For some people they need to take the gababpentin. I was on it with no side effects and it worked great for my nerve pain. I would consult your doctor about it first before you try anything else. Good luck to you and congrats on your clean time!!!~A

Gabapentin (Neurontin) is not addictive.  It was originally used as an anti-seizure medicine and now is also used for nerve pain.  I believe, though, it needs to be tapered and that if you're on it, you shouldn't just quit CT as it can possibly cause seizures.  I've been on and off it for nerve pain, and some of the side effects are really bothersome to me.

If you're not prescribed Gabapentin, don't take it.  It is a serious medication.  The Hylands Restful Legs seem to work for a lot of people.  Also the bananas or tonic water that has quinine in it.   Congrats on your clean time!!!!

Have you tried the restful legs?  Or potassium or bananas?  Those all will hopefully help.
