Sleep

I'm 257 days clean of alcohol and codeine,I'm still only getting 5 to 6 hours sleep a night,I go to the gym 7 times in 5 days so I'm getting plenty of excercise, surely I should be sleeping more by now,is anyone else still having trouble after this long.

Hi Denise,

6 hours must be the magic numbers for us addicts.  Either it has something to do with our brains or we are all just getting old.  Probably both - LOL.  I usually sleep 5-6 hours myself and I always wake up before my alarm goes off in the morning.  On weekends, I can sleep later, but I usually wake up and go back to sleep, so it's not uninterrupted.  My cat also helps with getting me up each morning, apparently she does not think I need more than 6 hours either.  I see a sleep specialist because I have RLS and he has told me that 6 hours at our age is good, but he also cautioned against taking big naps too because that can interrupt the sleep cycle.  I don't nap very often, but sometimes I need a little cat nap.  Congrats on the 44 lbs - Jim has lost 43!  Love your new pic, you look great!  Take Care,  S

SophieShine-yes I tried melatonin it didn't really do anything.

dominosarah-I feel great and I've lost 20kg or 44lbs

Rich99-Yes I do get tired about 2pm and have a nap,I've tried not having a nap but still only sleep 5 to 6 hours, the doctor just says to keep having the nap if I'm tired,so I suppose this is just how my body clock works.

With the alcohol and codeine I'd always sleep at least 8 hours,I suppose less sleep has got to be better than going back to tha alcohol and codeine.

Congrats to you.   Are you tired during the day?    If not then you're getting enough rest.     Or perhaps you may have some kind of sleep disorder (apnea, etc) totally unrelated to your former use of alcohol and codeine.
