Help to those withdrawling from Norco

I am new to this forum... but have been on it for three days straight reading all of your responses trying to get through the terrible withdrawals I have been going through.  I just want to help others out there that are going through this and to provide some encouragement.  My drug of choice was Norco 10/325, at my worst I was up to 10 a day and to be honest I probably wouldn't have quit unless my prescription hadn't of run out 2 weeks early.  I am on day 4 of withdrawal and I have done this completely cold turkey.  I have not used any supplement besides the Immodium for one day and some Motrin.  This can be done!!!!! you just need to want it and be very strong and know that it will not last forever...each day gets a little better.  At day 4 I feel like I just made a turn around the corner.  I feel sooo much better and have none of the bad symptoms any more.  I feel more energy and feel like I ;am coming out of the darkness.  My greatest fear is how I will go through each day without my little pills that gave me so much energy, made me feel like I could do anything, Made me more social...etc you know what I am talking about.  I just want you to know if you are just starting this process...STAY STRONG and push through those first few bad days.  I am soo looking forward to the freedom to be away from these things.  My life revolved around getting the pills, counting the pills, planning trips around refills, lying, stealing from family members and the list goes on and on.  I know I have only just begun this journey... so I have no room to preach but I feel like I am on  my way to a better life and never want to touch them again.  Thank you for the support you all provide on this site.. it has helped so much to know that I am not alone.

Thank you for your response.  I am set up with an appointment with a therapist that deals with addiction.  I have always got my prescriptions the right way through one doctor.  He just had no idea how many I was taking because I would just withdrawal and call for my refill when the 30 days was up.  At my last appointment I told him that I wanted to try to get off the Norco... so he said at the next appointment we were going to try a new non-narcotic med for my ruehmatoid arthritis.  I have no other contacts to get this med so I know I can't get anymore from any other source.  I live in a very rural area.  Can you give me suggestions on how to get through the mental part.  Right now I don't have the cravings but I know in time I will.  I am worried about how to function normally again without my little energy pills.  That is how they worked for me... I was able to accomplish everything and looked like superwoman..  I hope the aftercare will help with some of these emotions.... I feel ready in my heart to be done.  I deserve better for myself and want to be free again!!! Thanks again for the support. jj

Hi and Welcome!    So glad you got through the worst of it.   As you know from reading it is more than just a physical detox, but a mental one as well.  Do you have any after care of support planned?     Also, you said you refill ran out.   Does that mean you can't get any more?     That's the biggest thing that causes us to relapse, knowing we can get more somewhere or sometime?    Until we truly cut all our sources we aren't free.    We can never go back...our minds don't forget where we left off.    As I was told, we were cucumbers, then we were pickled.   Now we are pickles and can never be cucumbers again.   That means we can never be normal pill takers again.   Hope to see you around more!

Congrats on your clean time and good for you, I know how hard it is. It's great to hear stories like this to give other people encouragement that it can be done.

Thank you for sharing.
