Pill Dreams

So out of nowhere last night I had a pill dream. I really hate those and I haven't had one for so long. I haven't had pills on the brain at all so I'm not sure where this came from. I always get so upset when I wake up after I have one because in my dream I always jump at the chance to take them without a second thought.  So this is my thought on pills dreams... I think they are a subconscious reminder that you always need to stay on your toes when it comes to our addiction. We don't think about it obsessively like we used to but it's always there just lurking. One thing I do like about them is how I feel when I wake up, it just reminds me how I would feel if I did slip, absolutely terrible. So I've decided to use these unwelcome dreams as a mini wake up call...even if I don't necessarily need it at that time, and a reminder to never go back...not even once.  Sorry this was a strange topic for a post....just wanted to get that off my chest.

These dreams are the worst and i usually wake in a sweat.  I am usually doing something extremely illegal.  They come far and few between now which is good.  Pretty strange how our addict brain even haunts us in our sleep.

I've had a few too Andie....my counselor told me it was a normal thing to happen from time to time....luckily i've only had 2-3....and in one, i swallowed one and was trying to throw it up....then i woke up...another one, i actually took the pills in the dream and i woke up crying cuz i thought i had relapsed....omg was i relieved when i woke up enough to realize i hadn't used!!  dreams are powerful!!  but yes, guard up always!!

I too had a recent pill dream!!!!  In my dream and i do not recall it all but what i do remember is that the pills were on the counter and without a thought or hesitation i took them all and swallowed them all up!!!!  So my interpretation of that was "GUARD UP" that just proves to me that i am not healed that i am still very vulnerable to theses pills and will probably always will be.  So, i took the dream as a warning.....  My guard is up and always has to be and when i feel strong is when i need to really keep my guard up, I'm still learning but what i know for sure is that i will always be an addict and i have to always have my protective armor  on.......

Thanks for validating my dreams....such a weird thing to say! But happy I'm not alone. So get this crazy sh$t...I just told my husband about my dream...in my dream it was his pills I stole...and he actually was pissed!  WTH is that all about?  Since when do we get upset with someone for a dream?  I guess I can see his perspective...his addict wife dreaming about using  pills again is not a good thing....to him...he just doesn't get it nor do I feel like explaining it to him. All we need to know is its just a dream....as long as  WE know what this all means...that's all that counts...sweet dreams guys!!!

Hi Andie! No you are definitely not alone in regards to pill dreams!! I am currently 46 days off of Suboxone. Yeah! For 2 weeks straight and I'm not exaggerating...I had a crazy dreams about pills. Using them, seeking them out. Ready for the craziest part??? One night I was on here reading posts before bed. It was probably day 10ish. Someone had posted something about a drug called Fioricet. I have NEVER even HEARD of this drug until I read her post. I wasn't even sure it was an opiate. I had dreams all night about Fioricet!!! At one point, the word was written on a chalkboard like a million times! How freaking weird is that?!? I just thought I'd share my crazy dreams and let you know it passes! Good luck to you and congrats on your clean time. Keep On!

Not a silly thing. A new person may have one and freak - think that they're mentally twisted. A very good post.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. It really is a silly thing to post about but I remember going through detox and being plagued by these dreams. When I have one, it brings me right back to those days...again, just a reminder to NOT LOOK BACK!!!!!  I'll take my inspiration wherever I can get it....

Not only do I jump at the chance of using in my dream, I seek them out. Somehow I know that someone has pills somewhere, and I look for them. I have these dreams at least once a week.  I'm usually pretty embarrassed when I wake up.

What a great perspective! I haven't had a pill dream yet...I mainly dreamed about them when I was using (probably because they were on my mind all day long everyday) but this mentality is great! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for Posting Andie. I think it is strange too. I went almost 7 months with out cravings or dreams..Then it hit me like Lighting. I do not have to many Dreams but when I do I am glad to wake up and face the reality that I did not use. Shoot it is almost like I get a contract High from my Dreams. This is all part of the Process as our Brain tries to heal. I am telling You I am starting to Believe what the Drs told me about the Time..lol
