Hopefully someone here has heard of this and might be able to give some insight.

Ive been doing oxy contin for over 2 years now. At my worst I was doing at least 4 to 5 80's daily. That was almost a year ago. Its died down imensly and my life has changed for the better. However, I still ocassionally use up to 3 or 4 times a week. Ive been through emotional helplessness, family concern and help, counseling, and now I am just plain annoyed with myself and lack of the ability to just let go. I have helped many people quit themselves and have been morale support for countless friends. I have quit COUNTLESS times along with my girlfriend. I have quit numerous times cold turkey and also with suboxone and methadone (without abusing those drugs). I have heard recently about a new option for abusers who want out. I do not know if it is a medication or what. I am hoping someone here has also heard of it. Supposedly I has the effects like suboxone and subutex do where it acts like an opiate blocker and reduces or completely subsides withdrawls as well. However it is not taken/injested daily. It might be an injection that you get that might last for a month or longer. I really dont know the details. If there really is something like this out there, i beleive it will help many people through the toughest times on the road to sobriety. I am coming here today not only for myself but for everyone I know that might not be as strong, or ready, in denial, or in any other stage of addiction. Thank you for taking the time to help, it is greatly appreciated. To any other people suffering from this epidemic, stay strong, you arent alone. Do not ever keep these things to yourself, be open and never be ashamed.

Savas- I know how you feel and what you mean. However, If there is a way that I havent tried I will look into it. Methadone really seems to help me a lot. It completely gets rid of withdrawal symptoms, the only problem is mental. Physical is not a big deal with me, as long as I have dones. I did suboxone for 4 months on and off last year. I dont really like them too much for a few reasons. Havent tried subutex but it seems too much like suboxone without the blocker so people would just be more likely to use while on them. Dont realyy get that. Anyways, thank you all for your input, I will look into what I got. Keep the comments coming. Cheers!

They made this clain with methadone, then with buphenorphine, then with suboxone. Don't get your hopes up. If such a drug exists (and one does), then it won't be allowed for legal use in America anytime soon. There's to much money tied up in keeping recovery a difficult, expensive process.

Could you be talking about the Naltrexone Pellet? Naltrexone is sort of like sub, it can be taken orally..daily, or it is placed in the arm and then stiched up and releases meds into the body daily that block all opiates. It lasts anywhere from 1-3 months depending on the patients request/$. I did the Bup/Naltrexone and in the beginning of w.d I injected a shot of Buprenorphine once a day for three days, then detoxed completely for another 7 days, then on the 10th day clean I had the option to take the Naltrexone, orally in pill form every day, or to get the Naltrexone Pellet. This was my first real attempt at quitting and I was coming off of 15-20 80's a day. Yes, almost 20...80's a day. My doctor said I should have been dead. I hope this helps somewhat.....

Good Luck..Lisa

Couldnt tell you the name. Like I say, I heard it through the grape vine. Just a hop thats all. Also to Calamity, for sure, these F@#$#ing doctors and big pharmacy corps got us all into this **** knowing well what would happen. They are all after that big $$$. Thats about it. There are some good people out there however and I beleive in them. Im weary about anyone saying they can get you clean with more drugs. ****, look at the methadone clinics and the hundreds of thousands of people they have every day for years of thier life shoveling money out of their pockets every month. Thats just as much of a scam as oxy is. Thanks for your coments. I will look up this "Promet" whatever it is.

I actually watched a special on the news like a week or two ago about this drug.(if it is the same thing you are talking about)

It is supposed to work for withdrawl like zoloft works for depression is how it was put.  It hasn't been cleared by the FDA yet, and I have no idea when it might be available. It is supposed to suppress the things in your brain that crave the drug.  You better believe when it does I will try it.  It might just be a crutch to help people get from one script to another after abusing, but it will also help countless amounts of people that really truly want off.  Good luck with finding more out, and if ANYONE finds out more please keep us posted!

Hi I was addicted to vicodin and or oxy for 6 years 2 years before that I took them whenever I could get them. But the last 2 years was heavy using and lots of money. I used valium 5mg every 8 hours for a few days plus ambien at night. Took lots of hot tubs, steambath, whatever to stay warm. The first 3 days were phsyically the hardest. But each day after that has gotten easier.  I would be suspect of any 1 shot per month deal from the drug companys to "help" addicts. But that's just me.
