How Long are the Withdrawals for Percocet 10's 5 years?

Hello Brothers and Sisters! I appreciate all your sharing!  I've had 3 back surgeries and have been taking Percocet 10's for about 5 years now. I hate them. They have ruined ME, and my life and I want to throw my last few away but I'm so afraid of the withdrawals. Can anyone give me some idea of how long the withdrawals are for Percocet 10's and how long the severity lasts?
Also, I just got a really cool implant, its a Neurostimulator by Advanced Bionics and it has reduces my pain with electricity! I have a little remote that controls the strength and on low, it feels like a little tingling massage and on higher settings it feels like a good pounding massage. Cool eh?! I feel this has given me my life back and now I can get rid of those dreaded pills. I am so ready but I can't do that weaning process. I need to get rid of them all right now! No messing around! I feel that if I have them here I will fudge (and I know I will) and take too many leaving the weaning process a failure once again.
I'd really appreciate anything you all have to share because I am ready!!!  God Bless and thank you all!

after reading your post, i would like to say one year ago july, i came to a point in my life that perc's were running my life, and the only thing that made me quit was the fact that i moved to another city and my new Doc said he never prescribes narcotics........needless to say, i was like a wild animal in a cage who wanted out....i lived, breathed and ate my scripts all day long due to a neck injury, but what i didnt know was they were killing me....Im hear today to say you can have your LIFE back, and it will probably be the hardest thing you will ever do, but the most rewarding......In my drug state WD mind, i found this website and was on it day and nite just to know i wasnt alone..Im 55 yrs old, and since i got clean i have gone back to college, got my degree and have a LIFE today.....Miracles do happen!,  and sometimes you cant see the forest for the trees, but one minute @ a time and stay close to this site and WD are inevidable, but you are not alone........God Bless.

Hello and welcome!

I agree with the others when they say w/d is different for everyone but other than that unless I am just very unusal I did not agree with some of the other info.

I am day 3 off percs/LTs using SUBOXONE and feel pretty darn good however....

2 years ago I decided to w/d myself at home, my husband and I planned for it.
We had a friend move in to assist as well.
We bought a new swimming pool as we read the activity of swimming would help build natural endorphines.
I followed the Thomas recipe ..bought all the required vitamins, immodium, etc.
I stocked the house with bottled water, juices, fruits, and nutritous foods.
I had the bath tub ready and a heating pad as well.

Now let me tell you how this worked... NOT AT ALL WELL for me. I suffered for 9 days before anything changed, I became suicidal feeling this would never end. I did not sleep except minutes at a time for the entire 9 days (using tylenol PM) except once when a friend brought me a valium then I slept 5 hours. I ran a fever at times, My legs hurt so bad I could not get comfortable. I was anxious, depressed and cried.

I am not trying to discourage or scare you but I want you to be aware of what w/d can be like. I have read the w/d is not life threatening but I disagree as I have never thought of suicide until these 9 days. I would have rather died. Now again, everyone is different but this was my experience.

FUNNY....after all of that why in the hell did I use again? That is the million dollar question. Your mind does funny things. I thought I was better and was letting go of my aftercare.. I thought "I can use a few since I wont be addicted right now and can just quit"

WRONG, I got much worse than before and was terrified of going through that w/d again that is why I started the Suboxone program, it has been working very well for me but again everyone is different. I did post the site below for you to check into it if you would like.

Please be careful and safe...... and good luck!

Hugs and kisses

The stimulator sounds cool!  I hope it brings you the relief you deserve and you can be free of these dreaded pills.  As GTMI said, about 5-7 days of feeling like you have the flu.  Generalized aches, hot/cold flashes, restless legs, sleepless nights, no appetite, diarrhea, headache....usual flu type stuff, but add some anxiety and depression to the pot.  Sounds like you are ready though.  Go to the health pages and read the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol.  If you can get these vitamins and minerals, it will help with your symptoms and make life a bit more tolerable.  Just keep your mind set on quitting.  Don't look back, and tough it out for a week.  You'll be soooo glad you did.  Welcome to the forum, and keep posting!

Welcome to the forum. W/D last about 5-7 days for the bad part and then they linger for a couple of weeks. Each person is different. W/D is like a very bad Flu. You do live through it. Look at the Health Pages, near the top right.
