How long before the pain stops?

I got in a really bad car accident when I was 19, I broke my spine, really messed up my leg, mild traumatic brain injury the whole nine, and I have been on pain meds ever since (Nov. 13, 2007). I have been prescribed just about every narcotic pain med there is morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl, percocet, vicodin, etc. For the last few years I've been taking the fentanyl patches (50 mcg) along with percocet (10mg x5/day), back in Nov I started weaning myself off I cut the fentanyl first, then went from 5 percs a day to 5 vics a day, and have stayed there for the last few months. Well last week I decided to try and quit cold turkey, and right now I'm right around day 7. The first two days were by far the worst, now I just kinda feel overall crappy, but the thing I'm having the most trouble with is my back pain, and I'm just wondering if this is just part of the withdrawals and will eventually get better over time or is it my actual back pain?

Loved your movies..... and yes it will all be better the crappy feeling will hang around for a while just try and get some vitamins in you and stay hydrated plus eat whatever you want just make sure to eat.. I have mega back pain but I have decided to just deal with it that way atleast I know the guy you see is me and not the guy that could not do anything without a pill..

All your previous pain is amplified during detox, even people with no prior pain suddenly experience joint and lower back pain when detoxing.  I think a lot of it is the fact you hold a lot of water on opiates, and when you start to detox you pee like crazy and it dries up your joints and makes then ache.  Hot baths and plenty of gatorade are the key.  Immodium helps too because you lose a lot of fluid when your stomach is going crazy through detox.
