Trying to quit norcos & get my life back

Hello. I have been taking about 7 norco a day for 3 years now. I am getting married soon so decided it's time to quit! Not just for my wonderful fiance but for myself! I'm tired of having to rely on pills to stay positive and happy! So I started using the tapering method. I started to taper the norco about a week ago and today I am taking about 2 norcos total throughout the day. I'm also using L-Tyrosine, B-6 & B-12, omega 3's, a multi-vitamin, and tramadol. I'm a VERY active person. I work out hard for one hour a day and also compete in Crossfit competitons. I guess I'm just tired of seeing everyone else live their lives so happy being sober. While I'm having to rely on norco to keep my mood happy. So far, the tapering is going well. The L-Tyrosine and tramadol is really helping me slowly cut down the norco. I just wonder if by using the tramadol I'm setting myself up for another disaster. For the W/D I'm taking about 150mg of tramadol throughout the day, 2250mg of L-Tyrosine, and of course slowly tapering down the norco. I know the tramadol CAN be addictive so I'm just wondering if I'm doing the right thing by taking it. I'll do anything to get off the norco! But I don't want to become dependent on something else! It has really helped me to read about everyone elses posts and personal struggles. If anyone out there can give me any advice or just some kind words I would appreciate it so much. Thank you guys for sharing your own stories.

Julia

Congrats on knowing you're problem and wanting help now is the time to stop don't end up like with a 12 year addiction. Just think 2 years at 7 a day will be 5 years at 20 a day trust me it will happen I seen it over and over. Not only that sober is way better then body/mind clouded by pills. You're making the right step towards recovery and that is amazing. I really really wish I would have noticed after 2 years and stopped I'm sober now and it eats me up all my late teens through mid twentys are gone and all because of pills. Lost jobs a girl I loved and still do all my money and many items even a car due to the damn pills. Any ways enough about me I am very proud of you for you admitting you're addiction and two seeking help and advice. Keep use posted on you're success. God bless you and best of luck.

Hi   Great that you want off of these.I also exercise and run 3-5 miles evry day.The exercise will probably help more than anything.  Yes you will get addicted to the tram as it is just as easy to get hooked on it as anything else opiates.I would not take it and if you have to slow the taper down because it is completely counterproductive to use tram to detox from hydro.  Best of luck to you and you can do it!
