How to approach talking to my bf about getting help?

Okay, so i'm going to see my boyfriend tomorrow & I really want to sit & have a talk with him about him getting help. For those of you who don't know my situation, just look at my previous posting. I have never actually said to him "please get help". I'm afraid of what his reaction might be (get angry, defensive, slam doors, etc.). He's never put his hands on me. I know he's still using & probably will be when I see him tomorrow. He gets so defensive about any little thing, but I can't go on seeing him without expressing how i'm feeling. Anyone have any advice on how to approach him?

I did make the first step today & called a counseling center to talk to someone. I'm on the waiting list & they said they will call me when there is an opening.

yea, get him to read some of the posts here. show him that you have been trying to learn about it and that of course you would like him to quit but do not understand completely what he is going through. it is wise to give a whole lot of space and just offer "anything that i can do to help?" and that you are here and let him ask you for the help. alot of people want to just deal with this themselves and the last thing they want to hear is "how" they should go about getting off the drugs.
wish you the best with him

I agree with the post above. Hopefully he will see but he still has to want this. If he doesn't then you can talk to him allday and it really won't matter.

Maybe encourage him to this forum.

I would just start with everything you love about him.  Then let him know the changes you have seen over the past few months.  Let him know you love him and are concerned about him.  Tell him that professional help is available to help him overcome this.  And let him know that you would support him 100% in getting the help he needs and deserves.  When it comes right down to it however, he has to want to quit for himself.  Good luck
