Hydrocodone Anxiety problems

Hi.  It has been 9 days now since my last hydrocodone and I am still suffering from lack of sleep and anxiety.  I have barely managed to sleep an hour or 2 each evening and I am getting to the point of exhaustion, but even then I cant sleep.  I am so restless and have so much anxiety/crawling out of skin feeling especially when trying to go to sleep.  I CAN manage to get some sleep by taking a shot of NyQuil, but I am fearful that my body is going to get used to that aid and when I decide to NOT take it at night I wont be able to sleep.   I feel trapped.  What can I do?  I am so tired.

btw:  I am a Registered Nurse, and I can assure you (110%) that Immodium is NOT a "narcotic" I am glad if it helps you though.  If it truly were, lots of us here would never crap again!  LOL.

Thanks buprenex !    I am on day 14 and last night was the first night I managed to sleep without Nyquil or Xanax and the hot showers.   I went to GNC and told them about what I was taking and what I was experiencing with trying to sleep.  They suggested a blend called "Sleep Soundly Advanced".   You take it about 60 minutes before bed.  Along with that they recommended taking 2 tablets of Benadryl about 30 minutes after you take the Sleep Soundly.   The sleep soundly has the melatonin, L-Tryptophan,passion flower and L-theanine.   Using these 2 items gave me my first evening of full sleep!  No hot shower, no waking up and watching tv.....no NyQuil and no Xanax!   As far as I know there is no danger of taking Benadryl for a little while and I felt so much better upon awakening. I did not have the "fuzzy" feeling that the NyQuil would leave and I also avoid the risink of getting addicted to Xanax so it is a win/win situation.   I am sure everyone is different, but if you are suffering the same sleeplessness, anxiety, restlessnes when trying to sleep give this a try.  It just might work for you.    Thank you everyone for your support.

HI Welcome to the forum.....I have tried just about everything short a blow to the head...LOL
melatonin works if the room is pitch black valariain root helped but fro me the sleepytime tea at walmart worked the best it comes in double tea bags use both seep it for 5 min and drink in 1/2 hr b/4 bed followed by a hot bath that combo seamed to at least put me to sleep I never found a cure for waking a 3 am it just takes time for your system to reset itself
its different for everyone it took about 2 mo for me but I came off methadone witch is notorious for no sleep good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

I hear on this forum year after year that 4-5 to days or 7 days to 10 days and you will be fine. There are many many variables. Mostly these people do not really know what they are telling people. Since Doctors even say this I suppose that is why this notion stays around.

Getting off requires a care full plan. Backup plans. Do not under estimate withdrawals and especially the time they CAN last.

However getting off is not that hard, you will be uncomfortable, fairly sick, but your too sick and this will/may cause you to want to abort your progress. Many do this, this is the problem. Producing tolerable w/d and strategies to get through the day. I would gather around and rework a plan from here. You may have problems for a few months or not! Do not phych yourself out. You will learn from your failures as well and that leads to success. Just some suggestions, take alka seltzer with goodies powders, does relieve aches fast . Try Imodium about 8 tablets, it is a narcotic and can get you over a rough period. Take warm baths. Break up your routine, be patient. Try  sleep medications, rx or not, sleep really helps and if you can get some you will be much better able to cope. If you fail this time, make a better plan next time. Do not count on 7-10 days and your done BS. That causes more failures in my opinion, they mess up expectations  and your ability to plan the time it may take. The biggest thing is as you get into w/d, you start wearing down mentally. The key is keeping w/d under control, my suggestions make big differences for me. So if you redo this do a taper, something like a half tab if using 5MG Vicodin for your reduction towards the end and step down every 4-to 7 days and be patient. You may be there, you could start feeling much better in three more days. Be a shame if you do not capitalize on your tremendious heroic efforts so far. You have done well.

Sincerely Buprenex

BTW.  I ended up having to take 2 shots of NyQuil last night to sleep.  It worked but I have felt really out of it all day and very, very agitated.   The wife noticed it as well.

Another option.  OTC Melatonin.  Try 20mg. or more if needed.  It's in the Vitamin and Supplement section.  Your body naturally produces Melatonin to make you sleepy.  Hell, take em with a shot of NyQ and get some sleep.........

You should be 100% in a few more days.  Hang in there!

I am on day 3 of methadone detox, and I follow the thomasrecipe & Amino acid protocol, also I have made a sort of sleep cocktail for myself. I take calcuim magnesium at bedtime, then i also take, valerian root, passion flower, melatonin, Hylands Calms Forte, Hylands leg cramps, Hylands restless legs, and advil pm. I may awake for an hour or 2 in the night, then i'll take more of the calms forte, and drift back off. I know it sounds like alot, but ive been preparing for a while to detox, and so far everything together has seemed to help! Best to you!! congrats on 9 days, thats big!!!!

Use the nyquil for petes sake.....you are familiar with the addictive side of things aleady -Just keep an eye on stuff......and read the amino acid protocols in medhelps health pages...sounds like some theanine (like a valium...) and maybe some melatonin (for sleep, reset biological sleep clock) would be in order.....Sleep and anxiety will be some of the last things to finally let go when they do.........I always preferred the diphenhydramine myself - benadryl - that would be OTC ........Read the health pages ------you cant know too much about this situation  -  and good luck- congrats on the clean time......its a start.........
