The people who are afraid to lose their licenses and put a patient's life in jepordy should be fined. The legal people are probably getting involved because the "Insurance companies are paying for my prescriptions." So I will pay myself for a private psychiatrist and pay for my meds. Seems I can't GET INTO A HOSPITAL BASED REHAB BECAUSE OF MY HEART FAILURE. YES IT'S TRUE. I will be seeing another primary care psysician wnd can only get a nurse practioner who has to use a special prescription pad to write for "Pain killing drugs and benzos.'' 20 YEARS i HAVE BEEN ON BENZOS, DIDN'T ABUSE THEM, TOOK WHAT DOC ORDERED. I am sick to death and scared to approach the doctors. AT least my old doc gave me 2 months supply. He was humane. The government does not care if we live or die. I can't even get into a state rehab because of my heart failure-the doctors, psychiatrist when I was in the hospital all she wanted was me in rehab, and she didn't care how sick I was. She even took me off the heart monitor before withdrawl kicked in, it was awful. No sleep, heart with tactacardia, etc. I am getting in touch with a lawyer to see what he can do. If I live that long. Yes, the government wants people to work for them so THEY get richer. My heart goes out to all the people who should have been treated fairly. Fight back, there are lawyers who will talk and free ones as well. I am sure if a rehab puts me in for a 5-7 day detox-there will be trouble for sure. I have seen many hard working people who did not have good insurance die of preventable things. Be happy if you have medicaid and medicare. You're covered. I am sick all over and scared because I have so little left and have to appeal without getting hysterical for a slow detox, thats all I want , and with Xanax it takes months. Love to you all and God Bless you. Try to take action., try not to give up. Complaints can be made. As I understand it the doctor has to give at least one month's supply, by law.
Sorry Lira, I did not know you had posted above when putting mine together. I would move it but it doesn't connect with the other conversations..I was reaffirming 0421's perceptions above. When this action happened. everyone who was receiving prescriptions of whatever nature pretty much were put in a cold turkey situation at the behest of or overly ambitious prosecutors looking to make a name for themselves and an example out of him...That was the reality of it..
I can tell you that a Dr or health care office can just drop you off it. I was seeing a Dr for 5 years and he changed from being a hospital affiliated to a community health care and I went in for my refill of vicoden which I got every month and was told he quit the practice and there was no Dr to take his place and the new rule was they would now not prescribe any opiets or benz. was told to get a new Dr not so easy as I am on bcn hmo and no one wants to take me. So that started me on this journey I am on. My niece was droped off of oxy so quickly that she has seizures and ended up in the hospital. No one cares about the pt anymore just policies and money.
why are they discontinuing it? you have no choice but to find a doctor willing to do a correct taper, or else detox in the hospital. those really are your only 2 options.
why would they just d/c it like that? any family doctor should be willing to help you out at least a little.
