I want my life back...

How can I wean myself off Hydro's without getting help. It has been over two years and I had rather die then continue living like this. I take 4 - 5 daily by breaking them in half. Please send me ways to wean myself without doing it cold turkey. I have NOBODY to help me thru this. I am totally on my own. I feel like I am a total VOID.....

Hi Brenda! I'm an advocate of cold Turkey because I feel it just prolongs the detox and also it was very hard for me to stick to a taper. If I had pills I would take them. No control lol. But whatever you decide you will not be alone. We will support and see you through.  Perhaps a close friend or relative could stay with you a few days.  If not please don't be scared. You can do this.

Hi, Brenda, believe me we ALL know your fear of cold turkey. That's what has kept most (all?) of us from stopping sooner. We've all been terrified of feeling sick.

I'm going to suggest (just suggest) something a tad different than the other advice. Firstly, you say you're alone, you can go to an NA meeting (you can go wasted off you azz if that's the case) and tell them what you told us. You can have an actual person sit w/ you or whatever and give you great advice. They love newcomers and tons will want to help you.

Also, the other "just a suggestion" is that your terror of cold turkey is something ALL of us had to face, and guess what, a few days, maybe a week, and it's over. It's like the flu. Maybe I'm saying you don't need to be so scared of detox, yes, it *****, but what's a week of your life? And there are tons of ways to make it "less" bad. And there are so many great folks on here to help, every hour even.

Someone on here said detox is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental. I thought that was brilliant and true. Something to think about perhaps:)

Hi Brenda, Can you possibly confide in your Dr. to help you with a taper and to help hold you accountable? Are your meds rx'ed to you? I was on just a little higher than your dose and CT alone with the help of this forum. It is doable, but I can see now it was a lot harder without local support. The detox is not fun but a very small price to pay to be free of these devils. Keep posting , you'll get much support and propping up while you get thru this.

Hi & Welcome, It is a violation of our guidelines to give out taper information. You will have to find a way to cut back and taper. Slow is best. Relatively speaking your dose is not that high and since you are breaking them in half and taking them throughout the day you are not spiking your dose and that alone makes for an easier withdrawal. We will be here to support you as you go through this. When you begin developing symptoms let us know. We can recommend home remedies to ease the process. Stick around and keep going forward. It is worth it!!
