I want to get off Roxi

Ok so like many I want off....  This is my second time because of back surgery.  Last time I was never on Roxi but heavy doses of Methadone.  Cold turkey from 60mg a day life was hell for three weeks.... No sleep, constant sneezing and many many warm baths.  Now a little different twist.  60 Mg a day of  Methadone and 180 Mg Roxy.  Weaned down to 2.5 mg three times a day of Methadone and 45mg Roxy up until two weeks ago, i dropped the Methadone.   Now I am just on the Roxy and con not seem to take that next drop.  I feel like **** and am afraid to go through what I went through last time.  Now my question.  Should I introduce a small amount of Methadone back into this to try and get off of the Roxy??  Sounds stupid Im sure but dropping the Roxy wigs my system out.

Thoughts?

A question.  Has anyone heard of CALM being good for nighttime leg stress?   We ordered a Buchan of things last night from Swansons to fill the Larry's system. Mellisa drops sound like a miracle drug.  To answer your question on Mdone post my pain do.c last time around found that Mdone worked better than anything for nerve damage he tried everything on me Pcet, Morphin, phetinal, etc but when he put me on Mdone I could walk. 5 years latter and a continuous raising of my dosage it got out of hand and absolute hell to come off of. This time I did not allow the high Mdone amounts so he added the Roxi to offset.  Long story but with that said I am starting the last stages to get off and will be by end of holidays.  My wife is a great support and knowing I would be stepping down dosage she surprised me with a Far infa red sauna. She thought it was a good idea.  Think about feeling like hell and then stepping into a 120 degree sauna hell. I thought I would scream.  I will use it once I am not feeling so freeking bad.
Thanks again for the support and if anyone has the answer to the Calm question I would appreciate it.

I'm in agreement with the others as far as not going back on the methadone.  (And it seems unusual the doctor prescribed methadone for your post-op pain.)  If you feel bad enough now, maybe you should just hold where you are until you stabilize and then continue your taper.  In the meantime, look into the Thomas recipe for supplememts to help ease the w/d symptoms. Keep posting and you'll get great support.  There are several members who've gone through methadone w/d and they will likely have some ideas for you.

Hi there & Welcome!

First, Big Congrats on kicking M'done! (I came off 28 mgs. after 20 yrs.) So, my hat's off to you. I DEFINITELY wouldn't go backwards by re-introducing M'done into your system. You've gone two weeks without it, which is great. It takes longer for it to come out of your system as it is a full synthetic & stores in your bones & tissues. I know that it's scary & that your last experience was harsh. I don't want you to have to go through that again. Please, know that each kick gets harder & poly/cross-abuse makes it all the more difficult!

So, if you want to take your life back, now is the time ;-) This site will help you through your acute w/d's & beyond. Use it for all it's worth. There are many wonderful, giving & wise folks here who'll support you. The trick is to have a good plan in place, to understand that you're an addict with all that that entails, to cut any & all sources, a good & patient attitude & last, but by no means least, some form of aftercare. Telling your secret or 'coming out' to some non-judgmental, supportive family & friends realllllllly helps to level the playing field/protect you & will be a relief.

Please! keep posting & let us know what you think. We're here & we're pulling for you. ;-)

Thanks for the encouragement it means a lot just to hear from someone else.  Your mind tells you lots of crazy things in the dead of night when it is soooo quite.  I know that not introing the Meth/done back in is the wrong answer but again left to your own thoughts you come up with all kinds of answers to get the craziness inside you to stop even if for a couple hours.....

Thanks again for the words of encouragement.

Hey, congratulations on the ween you've so far done, that's huge.  Really huge.  I've never myself had two to deal with, but since it's been two weeks off the done I wouldn't add it back in to drop the roxi.  Maybe wait a bit longer on your current dose until you level out and get more of the done out of your system before dropping the roxi again.

Yea, last time was not my choice and I thought I was going to die.  Screwed up on scripts.  I was out of town in another state and thought I could fill my script once I was there.  Found out I couldnt and called doctor just to find out he was on vacation for two weeks.  In a different state and out of methadone is not a good place to be.  Doctor yelled at me when he got back said how dangerous it was but I was so out of it after two days I did not no what I was doing anyway.  No sleep, cramps sneezing etc.  Three years clean when my back surgery started growing bone spurs and lots of scar tissue, so back on the Methadone again but this time he added the Roxy.  I swear sometimes I think the Docs are in bed with the drug companies.  Not to state the obvious....  When in pain they can pretty much talk you into anything.
I hated the Methadone before but my thought is that if only 2.5 Mg 3 times a day of the Methadone would help get me off the 45mg of Roxy... is it worth it.  My question remains can I kick the roxy with that little Methadone or will I need to up the dose to do it. I know if it only takes 7.5 Methadone  I can drop that  fairly easy.  I just don't want to trade one devil for another

Sorry for rambling.

You CT off 60 mg Methadone before?  wow that's a huge jump from what i've read on here!  More people with experience with mdone will come along and give you more info...i don't personally have experience with either...just want to lend support...sounds like you've been down this road before....i'd say if you're gonna taper the roxy, slow and steady....IMO I wouldn't start back with the mdone...you would just have to come off that again too.  good luck and keep us posted!!
