I am on sub and am a chronic pain aptient. I was told it would help with the pain. It DOES NOT for me. Although, I have not been off opiates since the "accident" so I really can't gauge if it is even helping a little bit. I do know that of course stronger opiates helped. IMO though it does not help me. Good luck

I found absolutely no pain relieving qualities to sub. And I am educated and have done my homework. If you wish to use the European community as an example of much take a look at the mess they are in.....Just a guess .... but are you a twenty -something year old CIT?

ive done years of researching...im a substance abuse counselor-in training so i know my stuff..yes the drug's main use  especially in the US is for opiate dependence, but in france and the rest of europe its a major drug of abuse as well its used as a pain medication for severe chronic pain.yes it isnt as strong as full agonist pain relievers but for many it does help severe pain ask many ppl out there, it also has a really long half life, roughly 37 hrs. average, so you dont need repeated doses, do some research...christos

I am pretty sure that most of the people that are on SUBOXONE first got on the med in hopes that they can lead a drug-free life. Opoid addiction is a disease that comes with consequences, It is sad when patients, who are in real pain are given narcotics for treatment. without there knowledge of it's long-term, nightmarish effects.

I gotta disagree with christos concerning the efficacy of sub for pain....it isnt a pain pill. And it doesnt do a thing for chronic pain. Do a lot of homework....

for some suboxone or subutex(just buprenorphine) really helps with pain management and carries a little less abuse potential than oxycontin or heroin. you still need to slowly taper off and the lower the dose the greater pain relief you get as opposed to full opiate agonists like heroin, methadone, or oxycontin,etc.. it is 25-40% stronger on mg to mg basis than morphine so it is a strong pain killer, but yes it is mainly used for getting ppl off of opiates, but methadone is the same thing but it is used quite frequently for chronic pain that needs round the clock pain management. i dont discourage giving it a shot for pain patients-christos
