I'm going. .

After years of thinking I could do this on my own I'm going to rehab today.  I need help so badly and always refused it.  Hopefully I will come out a better person. Cause I sure hate the one I am now. I wii tslk to you when I get out.

Hugs, dede

Dede, by mentioning not liking who you've become, you won half that battle already. It's common through the devastation caused by our disease for us addicts to feel that way about ourselves. You recognize and you're taking action.  As you go through treatment always remember what it says in the NA basic text under the chapter Who is an Addict:  "We agree that there is nothing shameful about being an addict, providing we accept our dilemma honestly and take positive action."
...this is exactly what you're doing Dede. Congratulations!  Hold your head up high. You're going to get through this with flying colors. You have the strength and willingness to do this.

I'm so glad you are talking about this....anger is a HUGE trigger for me, too!

Years back when I was I did a 30 day treatment program.....a woman not only stole my cigs....she stole this GREAT leather case I had them in.
I had a HUGE problem with it cause I kept seeing her with "my" cig case!!!
You're SO RIGHT.....I was able to process it in group and talk about it with my counselor. You're doing great identifying the triggers....and getting a meeting schedule going will help a lot....having other addicts to talk to is HUGE and so helpful once you go to a few and meet some other women.

Please let us know how you're doing.....we care and we're rooting for you...being fresh out of a 7 day stay can leave you feeling vulnerable and raw.....but that's normal....you will gain strength as you do EACH new thing clean and sober.
Rootin for you Dede!!!!

Thanks clean,
I'm going to a meeting today.  I have an appointment with a counselor next week.
I haven't really thought much about a pill. While I was in rehab my roomate stole my cigarettes.  Reason I know is because my other roommate saw them in her purse. I was so mad. After I got so upset I thought I need a pill. Glad I was in rehab. So I realized that getting upset was one of my triggers that made me use.
I don't even want one.  I just think about the destruction they have caused in my life.
That's all I have for now.  Will write more later.

While I was hoping you would have a bed and be able to stay for 30 days ....I am so happy you had the opportunity to go and NOW HAVE 7 DAYS!!  It's SO important to start forming new habits, new ways of thinking, new ways of looking at EVERYTHING really.  I'm glad you have at least been given some tools to being your recovery road.

Even if it seems uncomfortable and "foreign" at first, I pray you will find it in you to do the "follow thru" (as you said).  You are forming the foundation of the new you.....and I can't wait to hear more about your experiences as you grow "into this", Dede!!  Please keep posting and sharing for support.....I'm rootin loudly for you from Kansas~

You sound great Dede! Congratulations on your 7 days. Try to get to an NA meeting tonight. Keep yourself surrounded in an atmosphere of recovery. When our recovery comes first, everything else seems to work out much better.

I got out of rehab detox yesterday. I learned quiet a bit in the 5 days I was there. they had no beds available for me to stay on for 30 days but said I should be able to get back in in a few weeks.
I am 7 days clean today. I left there with a packet 3 pages long for my aftercare. and am doing all I can to follow thru. ]
you know, I am just totally exhausted from the chase of pills and the addict life. I am beginning a new life today with what little I have left. I have sold or pawned everything I have. I have nothing left but me. so I am working hard on fixing me. I have always worried and taken care of others but someone said in one of the meetings there that it is time to take care of me and be selfish. And that is what I am going to do. Take Care of Me.
thanks to those who responded.
I will post often about my progress.

Thanks, Dede
