Why is 150 methadone liquid not stopping my cravings and I take up to 300 on my take home day, what's going on with me?  I used pills heavy "all kinds of pain" for 18 years

If you're not actually in w/d's -- cravings are mental/emotional & have nothing to do w/ your dose. You're doing yourself a real disservice by doubling up on your dose like that by the way. Do you get high when you take the 300? 150 is more than suffcient!!

The theory that you can't get high off of meth is a lie and unfortunately that sounds like that's what's going on here. Be honest with your caregivers so they can help you, otherwise you are creating a much bigger problem. Once they(meth clinic) figure this out, they will 86 you quick like.

Yea Cravings will never go away Its just how we deal with the thoughts & with "real life". You should maybe think about NA or CA meetings so u can get the tools to recover & stay recovered Even though we are always going to have this addiction for ever Its about getting tools to deal with Cravings, life,s ups & downs. Etc etc & if I can get off methadone Who loved the stuff Then anyone can, 32 days off methadone Its hard but it can be done, I never thought I'd see this day!! Good luck friend!!!

If you're taking 300 mg on your take home days, obviously you're going without methadone on some take home days b/c you're taking 2 of your take homes in 1 day. What are you doing on those days w/out methadone? If you're taking pills to substitute the methadone, then you're not allowing your brain time to heal from the obsessions and cravings as methadone treatment is meant to do. I've been on methadone treatment for 2 years and when I'm at a therapeutic dose, there's not a craving, thought or obsession in sight. You need to discuss with your doctor about reaching that therapeutic level. At 150 mg, you should be there. Are you sure you're not trying to get high on the methadone?

Wow up to 300 ml a day! Not even this meth head could take that in a day & methadone was my DOC! If your like me then your not giving your body enough time to adjust to the 150ml before u top up with more, I did this for yrs on methadone But if u hang in there it only takes a few weeks to feel "stable" again unless your using other opiates, But my truth is you should get stable then think long & hard about detoxing off the stuff its a long process But worth it.. You need to speak with your doctor.  That's a very significant dose.


You have to also understand that while meds like Methadone and Suboxone help to curb cravings, it's up to YOU to learn how to deal with cravings and learn how to cope with them.  It's something as an addict that you will have to contend with for life.  Taking more and more Methadone isn't the answer.
