Intervention

Do any of you watch the TV show on A&E called Intervention? I was watching it for a bit because it's about addiction and I thought it would be educational. Although it's very entertaining and I do like the show I have found it kinda makes me crave pills. I have no idea why because it's not like they glorify addiction by any means on the show. Have any of you watched it and felt that way?

Yes I have had the same experience .They DO glorify it in a way because they show some fictitious or past skill that someone had and follow it right up with 30 minutes+ of heavy drug use and partying, injecting, snorting etc. and then what I call the relaxation money shot which is,the footage of the euphoria they experience after using . The  part of the show that shows the consequences and the negatives is really only about the last 10 minutes of the show.I like that part. We,as formerly addicted people, just do not need to see the reward portion which sadly is at least 80% of the show.

Even Dr drew's show is better because at least it mostly showed people in treatment and going through the detox and early recovery process.

I agree with Ric above...it does glorify/glamorize it for a bit of the show. Even after 3 1/2 years clean, I still have some issues when I watch it...an uneasy feeling in the gut actually watching someone use

Is that a craving??? Hmmmmm...

I saw the advertisement for the "final" and "most gripping season yet" and set my TV to record it....after the first episode....I cancelled the recording. Didn't like how it made me feel....and it takes a lot to rattle this cage.

I guess that show is more for entertainment purposes than to try and "help" us addicts.

Just my opinion any-who.

I always like watching "Addicted" with Kristina Wandzalak. I still watch it and I have almost a year clean. She shows so much passion for helping people. And she's come a long way herself.

I'm good, clearly won't be watching Intervention at least for awhile lol. Even with a bit of time behind me some things still can be tough but I wouldn't take a step back for nothing at this point.
You seem like your holding up so well. Good for you! Your facing this head on and pushing through. You will be singing on the other side in no time.

I have cried so hard watching that show. I don't think I could watch it right now. Would be a definite trigger. I can't explain it but I UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY.... how ya holding up my friend?

Yes. When I would take pills I would watch it (isn't that NUTS??) and I would think, "well, at least I'm not bad off like this person." Little did I know that nobody's addiction is worst than another's. Yes things happen that can be worse, but ultimately we're all addicts and if you don't choose to stop you could easily end up living like the people in that show. If it's making you crave pills then I would probably change the channel! Haha! No unnecessary triggers, right?!
