klonopin withdrawals

Ok new thread hear,I'm starting to get really scared now I was really too embarrassed to post the first week on the sight that I've been on klonopin for 3 years for panic attacks and anxiety and for those of you that have read my older posts know that I stopped taking painkillers on Christmas day,the withdrawals were really scaring the hell out of me and I'm going to run out of klonopin 2 days early and heard it can really be dangerous to stop cold turkey off of benzodiazepines so if anyone has any answers for me please let me know what to do.thanks.

Hello and welcome! Congrats on getting off the opiates. I just wanted to put my two cents in about the Klonopin. In the past I have withdrawn from both opiates and Klonopin and dual w/d is no picnic, and is extremely dangerous, I am very lucky I didn't have any seizures. It is great that you are not abusing the Klonopin but PLEASE get taper advice from your Dr., even if you take it like you are supposed to, the withdrawal can be very unpleasant. Im in no way trying to scare you, just want to save you from the nightmare I went through. The withdrawal from benzos is different than opiates, I also have Panic disorder and generalized anxiety, so when you discontinue the benzos those symptoms get worse, and sleeping is difficult. Klonopin is a long acting benzo, so it takes longer to get out of your system then, say, Xanax. I believe the half life is 40 hours, from what Ive read, but don't quote me on that. I would definitely get through the opiate withdrawal completely before I started getting off the Klonopin. If you taper properly it should all work out. Best of luck to you, and let us know how you are doing.
XOXO C.

Every thing went good today,my doctor refilled my script,it was only a day early, didn't tell him about the opiates I was taking, just didn't have the nerve,I'm going to try and taper off klonopin as soon as I feel more comfortable about kicking the painkillers, damn those things really take a hold of you,I get no high at all from klonopin that I notice I just don't have panic attacks when I take them so its not a drug that I would abuse.

Well your nose is awake! The sneezes seem to come in 3s, and it is a normal part of detox. Annoying, long lasting,  but a small price to pay for getting your life back. I know you are probably a little worried about it because you were snorting your pills but as long as you have no pain or nose bleeds its normal.  God bless you lol.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about but I understand!  Im also on Effexor and Ativan which I am planning on tapering off of in the next few months!  How much Klonopin were you on?  Are you out early because you were abusing it?  From what I understand benzo and alcohol are the most dangerous withdrawals to go through.  So it really does matter how much you were taking!  Let us know as you might need an inpatient detox if you were taking a lot and stop cold turkey!!!  Can you call your Dr and talk to him/her about it?
