It's been 4 days with no hydros I just keep hoping tommorrow will be better

This is my fist time to this site and Iam struggling a bit. I have been taking hydros 10-325, 8-11 per day for the last year and have been on hydros for about 4 years this time around and this was due to back issue going back four years ago. Before that I was on hydros just for fun for about two years I don't remember it being this hard to get off. The WDs have been bad at times and just keep telling myself tommorrow has to be better then today. I take hot baths like I took hydros any chance I can it helps with the RLS and the creepy crawlyness. I just hope it's going to get better I have a family and just want to be a better dad and husband. This site has helped me through the first few days, if made me cry due to everything you all went through is what Iam going through and feel for you all out there. Remember tommorrow has to be better then today just has to be

I'm in the same position.  I broke and make a doc appointment for tomorrow because I keep trying to stop but the withdrawals are so uncomfortable that I cannot focus at work.  I support my family, have two beautiful kids and a wonderful, successful career, yet this secret.  My husband has been on meds for years and after my pregnancy I had bad back pain and started taking his meds...then it got out of hand.  Time for a change.  Best of luck to you, too. I just joined this site, so much support.

Hi, I came across this site and I'm so glad I did.  I am a 53 year old Executive with a major corporation and have been taking 2-3,5/550 vicodin pills for almost 7 years without anyone knowing but me, not even my husband or children know about this.  I just keep telling my doctor I'm in pain and he keeps refilling my perscription.  I can't stand the secret and how it is controling my life.  I am scared to stop and scared of all the withdrawls everyone talks about.  I have to detox without anyone knowing so I can get on with my life.  It has consumed me.  Any advise please help

When I was detoxing, I lived in the tub. I also took a lot of short little walks to help those legs. Tomorrow will likely be better than today,,,every day will get better and better. A day clean is better than any day using. That is for sure..you'll see...just hang in there :) put one foot in front of the other and breathe..it'll be over b4 you know it!!

You are doing great! That whole week for me was pretty horrible when I went CT but I am almost 3 weeks now and I am feeling TONS better and you will too!! I could not do the bath thing as my tub is tiny and I felt really ugghh trying. HOT HOT showers like 5-6 x a day helped. Try to eat something every couple of hours like soup or crackers or some fruit. Your body needs nutrition. Be kind to yourself. Be patient too. You can do it : )

You are doing great!  This is such a hard time to go through but so worth it in the long run. Your family needs you...a sober you. You owe it them and especially yourself to be healthy and happy. They need you....the real you. Do this for yourself AND for them. Day 3 is notoriously the day you will relapse..you've passed that point now make your work count for something...no more letting anyone down. Be strong and keep moving forward...it's the only way to freedom ...good luck!

Hi nomore, welcome and congrats on 4 days so far. That's a great start and something to be proud of. It does get a bit easier each day. Immodium will also help with the cravings and stomach issues. Just try to stay positive and look forward to each day being a bit better. Alot of people here that quit hydros start to feel so much better at the 30 day mark and even better at 60 days. I quit vicodin about 40 days ago and really don't have cravings for that but I recently relapsed on tramadol which isn't my DOC but I still used to abuse it though. But I know I won't be taking vicodin again cause it's soo tempting to use more. Trust me it gets better. Just lean on others for support and you'll get through this.

If you can walking helps as well.  Getting out for some sun really helps overall.

Hi nomore. Welcome and congratulations in your decision. I'm sure you've read that wd symptoms peak at day 3-5 for most. You should be in the down hill side. Things should get a little better each day from here. Try to remember to stay hydrated. Drink some boost or ensure for nutrition. Epsom salts in those hot baths will help some with the creepy crawls. There is also an OTC product called hylands restful legs. I ate them like candy. There is a calcium magnesium zinc supplement that is supposed to help too, but I didn't try that one. I'm sure others will be by with more help soon. Great job on the clean time! Keep up the good work!
