It's been a Vicious cycle for me...

I am back...was off the Norcos for a year or so until I injured my back again. I just had surgery about 6weeks ago and feel I'm hooked on Norcos again. I quit smoking cigs last new years but back on the pain meds and also taking the zannax. Slowly started weening myself down to 3-4 per day now but it's still way too much. I'm 42 now and feel like crap without them. No energy, can't focus nearly as well. I don't know what to do.

I know you're down on yourself for getting back on the pills but it seems like you've taken action to get clean again fairly quickly.  If you've only been using for six weeks it'll be easier to get clean that it otherwise would have been.

I think the above post is right about getting your doctors assistance especially since you're dealing with both Xanax and Norcos.

Good move getting off the really strong stuff right away.

Yeah, JWW, i think it is better counting on your doctor's help cause you are dealing with a lot of pain, you already know how hard the wds can get and he/she could give some non narcotic med for the pain, talk to him and tell him that you don't more narcotics but trying better ways of dealiing with your pain...maybe acupuncture could help you a little too here... TENS unit, yoga... don't know but you have to try alternative therapies if you don't want to rely on the pain killers anymore for your pain, Jww..you will found what it is called rebound pain soon after detoxing but from what i have heard to the people here, pain gets better with clean time... the energy will slowly come back, it takes some time but it will come back

Hi, yeah the xannax I've gotten in the habit of taking to calm down..I'm a very high strung person plus I have a nervous tick and the norcos don't really help all that either. I dunno..

Thanks for the welcome.. I am doing the taper myself. Perhaps I should talk to my doc?! The pain was so bad this last time my doctor put me 60mg Avinza..which is like being on 6 10mg norcos at once and it's a 1 per day slow release. Almost pure Morphine...yikes. I took myself off those within 48 hrs after surgery but have been doing the norcos again. I'm in pain every day...mornings are the worst.
