Medical Diagnosis

I was on this site awhile ago, but I hesitated coming back (I don't understand why - I'm trying to follow the rules to a tee).

I was just recently diagnosed with Uterine fibroids and masses in and around my bladder.  I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to get a CT scan and diagnostics test done so the doctors can see a bit more than they did with the pap, uterine biopsy and ultrasound.  The conclusion thus far...no way around it, complete hysterectomy.  There are so many, attached to other organs, etc.  Actually, I'm very glad to have found the reason for my pain, extreme fatigue and mood swings (some would just say being a witch and I don't blame them!).  I guess until a final prognosis is made, I don't need to jump to conclusions, but after losing my husband 2 years ago and everything else, I tend to ask, what next?  So to counteract the pain (and it IS major), they have me on pain medication or I would not even be able to function.  I'm taking Wild Yam, Black Cohosh (these were all ok'd by my doctor) and any other route that is not medication, but I have to say that the relief is palpable.  I can eat, sleep, walk comfortably and am taking them for two weeks, and off for two weeks, just so I do not become dependent because i know myself where that can lead.

I'm in for 6 weeks recovery time, not looking forward to it, but am glad right now because I have a confirmed answer to my question.  I'm just very confused now.  I've been reading what everyone has posted, and I have to say you are awesome individuals, and so very positive.  I'm trying to get inspiration from you guys. :)  And I have!

I just want to keep in touch here so I can trudge forward with a smile instead of a frown, and that's why I posted.

Take care all - my heart goes out to all of you!

Hey you are in so much pain..A total Hysterectomy will help..I had one when I was 30. It was just a hugh relief, the pain was gone..I had tumors, endrometrosis, it was like my organs were fusing together..If you have the choice have a vaginal hysterectomy...so much better than them cutting thur all you tummy muscles. A friend just went thru this. She had been on pain pills, anti depressants,etc..After a month of recovery she is so alive again..After I had mine, I stayed in hospital 3 days, was up walking the day after with very little pain med...I came home with pain meds, but only needed it when I over done things during the day...(things I was not supposed to do)...Good Luck...Hope your feeling better real soon.Nearly forgot to tell you...I my paps keep coming back irregular, I was having to have 2 a yr for like 3 yrs..finally dr decided enough after futher test, ultra sounds, cts etc. Just hang in there....dont let yourself get in a funk..wait for all the test results..

Welcome back to the site.  You are so right, there are so many people on here that are understanding and have been there and know what goes on and what helps.  I was so confused about things and after being on this site, I found so many cool people who I can relate to and toss ideas back and forth to.
I know it is late but, I am glad you came back - good luck to you,  keep posting.
