Mentally Drained:

I believe it is my last day today/tomorrow ( Monday ) of my Tapering off of Codeine. However the after effects are still plaguing me terribly, Esp this pain in my damn shoulder that travels down my arm ( Bicep ) to my Elbow and fingers as if Im being stabbed with a red hot knitting needle.

I have slight tinges in my left leg and have to keep adjusting and the damn hot flushes ! OMFG !
I believe this will drive me nuts before I begin to feel normal again, I just with the withdrawal symptoms would take a damn hike now, I am very tired of them and their constant need to prevent me from sleeping let alone having any kind of * normality * whatever that is !
Yesterday the Chemist ( UK ) gave me 6 tablets ( Codeine ) 3 for Sat and 3 for Sun. But where I was so so tired and forelorn with no sleep or rest I took 3 in the afternoon ( Sat ) and then 3 Sat night and went to bed at 3 am woke at 1pm in the afternoon.
BUT the feeling I had upon waking was as if I was the living dead with alot of dizziness and sickness.
A reminder as to WHY I am coming off this drug.

I have tried sleep aids.. they do not help me at all.
I have hot baths but they seem to trigger my M.E symptoms an thus make them even worse.

HI it may take a wile to go away but sleep is the last thing to return to most of us it will come back but it might be 2weeks to a month as for your pain your experiencing something called rebound pain it is the lack od endorphins flowing from the codeine   your body will start to produce it own after some time and your pain will become more manageable many of us myself included are more pain free off the meds then we where on them it just getting by this first couple of weeks thats ruff.....keep posting with your questions   I believe everybody should detox at least once a yr to find out exactly where they stand pain wise good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

Thank you for your kind hearted words they mean alot. The problem I have as do most M.E sufferers is that there is no active treatment available an so we end up addressing our problems in our own way through the M.E research forums hence how I originally started taking Codeine much to my detriment now! The issue mostly for me is as stated before the lack of sleep an the pain. I am not so sure mentally I can cope with this without some kind of help from a Dr as withdrawal is making my M.E symptoms worse then they ever was.
At least with the Codeine I had a somewhat normal life an at least I slept :/
now I feel like I have no life as I'm spending it in pain an trying to cope with no sleep whilst trying to keep up with the daily expectations of family life something has to give an soon !!!

HI  im glad you got a doctor involved with this .....medical conditions change the whole game plan I read the detals of what you have and its going to be really tricky for you because there the exact same symptoms coming off the dope almost perbatum if I listed all the long term withdrawal symptoms the lists would be identical getting off this stuff is a 4 to 6 day deal for most who  just jump but to say your well after would be a lye ....it takes the body sometimes months to fully recover and you can expect a lot of those symptom so it will be hard to differentiate is it your illness or is it thew post withdrawals we will continue to support you but this will be complex dont give in its always doable its going to be treating your symptoms that will be tricky....its time to see a homeopathic doctor the regular ones have failed you
keep posting for support good luck and God bless......Gnarly
