Methadone Help

Ive been taking one 10mg pill everyday for about 4 months. I really want to stop taking this drug. Am I going to go through hellish withdrawel symptoms when i decide to quit??? Any help appreciated

Stop as soon as you can, if you want you can start taking 5mgs now for a week or so and then quit, but I dont think it would make do big of a difference in the severity of the withdrawls. Trust me though you need to do this before it becomes a major problem and your whole life revolves around that little white pill, Ive been there and was there for a long time, it was horrible. Since you havent been taking it for very long any bad withdrawls shouldnt last any more than a week, but you will feel fatigued and maybe a little flu feeling for awhile after. Look into the Thomas Recipe down on the health pages, vitamins, supplements and the appropriate amino acids could really help. Sublingual B12 pills helped me with energy during withdrawl, melatonin to help with sleep. If you need any help or have questions feel free to send me message/note, id be glad to help out. you would be wise to stop now..I think you will still have some w/ds..I don't know how bad they would be. try it and see..the longer you are on it the worse it's going to get.

i think 10mg for 4 months... maybe not too bad? im on day 5 off of 5mg and it's tolerable, but i am taking clonidine and stuff like baclofen, brufen etc to counteract the worst bits.
but i was on it for 8 years at much much higher doses. so maybe i've got more to get out of my system, not really sure on how that works.

i've found that the thinking about doing it was way worse than the actually doing it - man, i stressed myself ragged for months about getting off, when to do it, how bad will it be...... now i'm doing it, it's just a kind of uncomfortable thing i'm doing and i'm so happy i am, and i know it won't last forever.

if you really want to do it you can, and i guess sooner is much better than later - i sure wish i'd found the courage sooner! so far it's not as bad as i expected. you'll be ok, it IS possible! maybe only take 5mg for a few days then stop?

I do not know much about methadone, but I'm here to tell you that you can do it!  It might be difficult at first, but so worth it in the end!  Be strong and work with your doctor to do this!  We're all here to help you with any withdrawals you might go through!

10mg of Methadone is a pretty small dose. Is this the only opiate you have been taking, or have you been on Methadone treatment for something else?
