Methadone hallucinations withdrawls

Hi, I need some help my sister has gone cold turkey after 3 years at high dose of methadone. She was at 150 and dropped to 90 then cold turkey. It has been 10 days and the hallucinations are getting really out of control. She has been checked in to the hospital because the methadone has done extreme damage to her liver and they are very worried about that. But are not doing anything to help with the methadone wihdrawls. Any suggestions or time frames that we can do or give her to help with the hallucinations.  When do they stop?

My mother has just gotton off it on her own terms dropping from mil to mil it has take abit but after two weeks of mealtdows breaksdowns attempt suicide we have finally got her back. The thing to help her most were Valium and mirtazipine for night time when she felt she couldn't get through the night sleep wise and aching wise

Hi there- Well, with liver issues she most likely has abnormal levels of blood chemicals, amino acids, proteins, etc...The changes will cause neuro deficits among other things.

Speak to the hospital staff about what can be done. Remember, they are limited as far as medicine goes because of her liver function. The liver is a filter for everything: food, drinks, alcohol, and drugs. If the liver is sick there's a lot of physical decline; it's really a very important organ. The good news a is that it can heal very nicely.

Be patient and give your sister a lot of comfort and support.

Hello & Welcome!
There are lots of us on here that came off of many yrs & high doses on Methadone. I myself do not have so called "Hallucinations", but as my Brain Chemistry adjusted back I did feel very strange, like in a dream and nothing was real. Maybe the others can help a bit with this situation. Is she seeing things?? I am not sure what you mean by the Hallucinations? That reminds me of LSD or Mushrooms? Did she drink Booze??

Very surprised that the hospital is not having her on the Ativan or some kind of Benzo. Maybe it is because of what you are saying. Wow! I am so sorry to hear this. Withdraws do take some time for everything from your Brain to Body to Heal or Balance back.

Plz keep us updated and check this post again to see what other say.
I hope & pray for the best.
