Does anyone know how dangerous mixing ambien (15mg) and heroin (a few injections) is?

That's what we all say! The truth of it is that you can't make him quit drugs he has to WANT to do it! Of course that doesn't mean you can't try and talk to him about it and how scared you are for him. Sometimes that's all a person needs is a little wake up call! Good luck!

Thank you all for the replys. He woke up this morning and went to work. He's had an addiction problem to pain pills for a long time. I've tried to get him help a few months ago, I found a place that would take him for 3-4 days for detox. He said he didn't need the help and he wasn't taking that much.

Is there a reason he mixing them? Does he think he will get higher? I'm a heroin addict and tht alone put me out so he really doesn't need them ambian . Tht being said he really needs help now! If he just started doing heroin u have a better chance of helping him. But the worst part of it all isn't tht hes mixing them. U said he did the injection and didn't think it worked so he did more?!?! This is how ppl OD!!!! I'm not trying to scare u but its the truth. If he keeps this up hes giving to b in serious trouble. Good luck I Hope things work out for the best!

My best friend fell asleep on hydro morphs, no more then he'd done before so it shouldn't have been a problem. He didn't wake up. I miss him everyday and go per what I could've done, I suggest you get your spouse help. Don't encourage it.

Your husband needs some serious help here.  This combo is deadly, so is the heroin all by itself.  I hope he will be okay but if he continues to do this his time is limited.

I understand what you are saying. That makes sense. Thanks for the advice! I'm just gonna stay awake... I'm gonna wake him up and prop his head up.

There are many things that can happen when you think someone is "sleeping"  even if they are snoring. Doesnt always mean they are getting appropriate oxygenation. Just cuz hes breathing doesnt mean his heart is pumping blood approprately if his heart rate is low. This is all just my opinion but its what I would do. If hes new to using heroin, then his body doesnt have a tollerance and he can easily overdose if he doesnt know what hes doing or what his body can take.  You seem concerned enough about him to be here, so this is what I wold do.

He took the ambien around 8. Then the heroin around 10. If something bad was gonna happen, you'd think it would have already? He's laying on his side sleeping, actually snoring.

I'm sure he has. I don't always know when and what he takes. The heroin is something he just started doing. It really scares me.

You might want to call 911 and have them check on him. They can hook him up to an EKG and check vital signs and make sure ifs ok and if need be they can give him Narcan which which is an opiate antagonist which will essentially  kill the heroin buzz. IMO if your worried about him like this, this is what I would do

I did take the ambien. He's been on that med for years. I don't want him to go through withdrawals from that. I will give them to him before bed only.

So, has he done this before? Im guessing he has a tolerance for both ambien and Heroin, so i think you will be alright to try and get some sleep.

Well..Try and turn him over on his stomach, and let him sleep on his stomach and just keep an eye on him..and flush the ambien,

He took the ambien earlier in the evening. Seemed ok for awhile. Then he took the injection, didn't think it worked, so he took another. Then he started nodding off, rambling on about stuff that didn't make any sense. This is normal for him when he takes the ambien. I tried to snap him out of it. He staggered around and ate some snacks. Now he's sleeping. I'm afraid he might not wake up. I can't sleep :/

His heart would slow down dangerously low and his breathing shallow. Bad idea..

Thanks for the reply. It's not me that's using, it's my spouse. I'm just really concerned.

My pharmacist and Doctor told me not to mix Norco and Ambien so I would definitely not mix Heroin and ambien.
