Hey there! Don't let the fear of WDs stop you ok? You can do this. You and your hubby and kids are worth whatever you have to go thru, right? Those kids need a clean mom. Get some immodium, advil, heating pad, mag/cal supplement and some hylands leg cramps. They are great for RLS. I swear by it! Drink Gatorade...I mean A LOT! Take baths in epsom salts. Stay hydrated and like Jacky said, exercise when you are able. It has lots of benefit. It tires you so that you sleep better and it passes time and reduces nervous energy/anxiety!
You can do it! Good luck. Keep posting!
Sounds like all you need is the will to get clean. Don't be scared. I stopped 27 yrs of methadone use, this is day 25 for me. Your husband is your second best hope. The first and best thing you got going for you are your children. When you look into their eyes and see the love they have for you, how can you weaken? Aren't they worth a few days of the he-be jee-bees? God, how I wished for someone to talk to those first days. You are indeed lucky. I had no one to get clean for but myself. Because I made up my mind to get clean it wasn't so bad. Hell, I had no brain synapses left after a total of 30 years subjecting them to opiates.
Just remember it is only going to be rough for a week. Day 7 will be tough. But on the other hand, days 1 thru 3 you'll still have the opiates in your system, it will be your mind messing with you those three days. Then it will be your body's turn. Your kids are worth a week of discomfort, aren't they? That's all it is physically, one week. I'm the living proof. (30 yrs is a long time to diabuse a body, and if an out of shape, old fart, coward like me can do it, you can. Just please, have the WILL. Everytime you weaken run to your kids, get your strenth back through them. That's why God gave them to you. They came into this life to get mommy clean. Once they accomplish that, they can move on to other things.
And don't worry about the energy thing. That will take a bit longer. During that phase you do what you have to, but lay as much off on daddy as posible. Lay down (I was in the fetal position) and tell yourself you have nothing else to do but REST and RECUPERATE. Your body will bounce back. The human body is amazing. I tried my best to destroy mine and it just wouldn't let me. We're all built alike and women are always stronger then men. So you'll you'll probably breeze right thru what your dreading tonight. GO FOR IT, THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE.
Oh, i forgot to mention that you can find the Health Pages at the top right of this page!!
Hi and welcome,
There is certainly lots of support here and it is great that your husband is behind you! To give yourself the best chance possible at long-term sobriety you should consider outside sources as well such as aa/na meetings and a substance abuse counselor. This is very important.
To get you through the next couple of days i would suggest taking a look at our Health Pages here. Look specifically for the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol. They will both ease the withdrawals a bit and the amino acid protocol may be especially helpful in combatting the fatigue. Stay hydrated with some gatorade or powerade and get some exercise as soon as possible. This will help like you can't even imagine so push yourself when you can.
We will be here for you the whole way so post as often as you need. Best of luck to you and stay strong.........
Love, Jacky xo
