Hi! That all sounds like a plan until you got to the part about methadone. I wouldn't start methadone. If you can stop for five days, why would you want to do the methadone? The physical WD will be much better after the five day mark, so starting methadone at that point will only give you another drug to detox from. AND.....it's a detox that will be much harder than the morphine one will be. The fact that you have lots of vacation time will help a LOT. If you can take a week off then you'll have an advantage over a lot of people who have to go through this. Just taper down as low as you can, and then just jump off when you're ready! It'll be the best decision you ever make! : )
I didn't no methdone was so hard to come off from. I have a hard time tapering . My job, all thou a good one is very labor intensive one. From reading what people are saying about morphine w d I thought 5 days I 'd still feel to bad.
Someone else on here told me only crazy people do methdone forever. Lol. I think the only way I could taper would be with mthdn. I have used it when I was running low.
Please take the advice to stay away from Methadone or the other "get off the merry-go-round" drugs. I have heard too many horror stories about people trying to get clean that way only to be hooked worse than before.
The detox won't be fun. It s****. But the worst will be over in 4-5 days and if you work at staying clean you will be in control of your life again. You realize that right now you are controlled by a substance, right?
Telling myself that I want to be in control, etc, has really helped me. Good luck. -R
Hey thanks for the advice , I didn't think the methodone was that addicting . But my wife says I have an addicting personality so I had better take heed. Well it was a thought, I've been saving them up but if you really think the worst of the withdrawal would be over in 4 or 5 days that would be doable. That's what I had originally planned but then I read about people that said day 8 they felt like they had lead in there Viens and could hardly walk across the room. And then I read people day 22 that said they just had no energy! My work is very labor intensive and I have always been Mr. Dependable. So I could not afford to feel that bad at work. What was your drug of choice? Do you really no or are you just preaching ? No afence but I would like to no.

Everyone is different. I think if you are that active than it won't be a problem for you. It also can depend on your age and how long you have been using. Some people bounce right back and can go to work on Day 4 or 5.
Make sure you take lots of vitamins, drink plenty of water, gatorade etc. so you don't become dehydrated and try and eat soups, crackers etc to keep your energy up.
Goood luck, it's very doable and keep posting.
Also can depend on how much you are taking and how long you have been using. If you want to share that, someone may give you more advice.
