how do i stop this feeling?

I had total knee replacement 4 months ago (67 years old) and have been taking Norco 10-325 for last 4 months almost daily.
I was told if taking for pain and not abusing I would be fine when I stop.  I only take once in morning and once at night 2- 10/325 mg....I felt I was ready to accept some pain and stop the hydrocodone.  My first feeling was RLS and my arms felt stiff and I was unable to sleep.  Now I notice in am I am miserable agitated and restless.  I feel certain this is a type of w/d but was told no way with the small amount and never more than 4 a day.
How do I get off this small amount slowly to lessen these feelings....they make me miserable and so I take again more for the muscle and agitated than the knee pain...which I still have pain that requires hydrocodone but feel I better get off before any worse.  could someone  advise me on this as I am so  embarrassed to tell anyone and know my doctor will think I am being dramatic as I told him before surgery I was afraid of addiction.  I have never had a problem and do not smoke or drink...but feel I am very sensitive to medications
thank you

start by cutting dose in half...if your taking 2 in a.m. take only one....do this for like a week or 2...then take only half of tablet..and so on...you will still get withdrawls ....but not as bad...get out now b4 its too late...longer you wait the longer the wd,s will be...

Hello Tkr. Your body has become dependent on the medication. Whoever told you that you will not feel wd because you only take 2 a day is speaking out their posterior. You can taper breaking the pill into smaller even pieces then removing one piece every few days. You will feel the drop but not as bad as stopping You reduce again when you feel like you are leveling out. Continue this till gone, it will take a lil longer and you will not feel 100% but it is would ease you into the wd making the end not so bad although you will still go thru wd.
Stopping all at once. One would be sick for the first week rls emotional restless agitated anxiety pain in all your sore spots the worst days are 3 and 4 usually. You are on such a low dose that I do not see it lasting longer. The extra pain does go down it is just a part of getting off the opiate.. Hot showers our baths help the rls, the moods are manageable most days with a Good Attitude that you are doing something good for yourself. Gnarly says it is a choice to suffer I believe him. Sleep might elude for for awhile but this is something most all experience that come off opiates. It does come back! energy will be low but it also comes back. All this is only Temporary! If your Dr. thinks you are being Dramatic I suggest you find a new one that listens! I wish you well. lesa
