Suboxone doctors that take no insurance = no urine test or therapy?

My Suboxone doctor never asked for a urine test or suggested therapy. He just kept me coming back for those $260 15 minute visits for 7 years. I am curious if the cash only Suboxone doctors are not drug pushers in disguise? Any MD can become a Suboxone doctor with an 8 hour course...

My Suboxone doctor he only takes cash, $225. And he also gives you one time to fail, LOL yes fail" then you come back in a week pay $25 and your urine better be clean or supposedly they discharge you. I've never been through this of course. He said he just doesn't want to deal with insurance. So I was wondering the same thing are they just crooked or what?
And I'm curious if I turn this into my insurance will they reimburse me for going to this doctor that only takes cash?

Hello, I forgot to add my insurance does pay for my Suboxone strips. With the coupon it's $5 out the door and then I'm on my way home.  :)

Good luck getting insurance to pay. Most doctors will either be in network or out-of-network with your provider. Cash only means they do not care to qualify for insurance or fill out any insurance paperwork.

An eight hour  course??!!!  WTF WORD!!!   I''m no expert here but hey eight hours.    My first impression it sounds like a nice racket.  $260. for quarter of an hour.   I get the impression he doesn't take insurance either.    I think you are  correct in your impression he's a drug pusher.    OTOH My views are speculative and a gut feeling.  I could be wrong.   Did you ever ask to see his physicians license.  Is he a  member of the AMA.   You can check out their docs on their  site.  You can see if he's listed  on healthgrades.com  Good luck to you.

This guy is an old licenced psychiatrist with a cash cow business. Originally I thought he was so expensive because he was a psychiatrist. I later learned from an MD how easy it was to become a Suboxone doctor. This MF also diagnosed me ADHD and prescribed amphetamines. I had made it 60 years with no amphetamines... He had no intention of me going anywhere. Never in 7 years a urine test or a suggestion for therapy...

Looks to me you should trust your gut feelings.  He sounds if not a quack  highly unethical and extremely poor,  correct that nonexistent professional morals.  Can you see a different dr?

Have been off of the subs for a year now. Will never walk an opiod path again. Suboxone withdrawal costs 2 1/2 times as much as heroin withdrawal in rehab because it takes so much longer... I did cold turkey at home. SSRI type mental withdrawal, 3 weeks of physical withdrawal, months with little or no sleep, and 11 months of IBS. It has been a year and I finally have gotten my health back. Am still working on my life...
