Hi Sandy,  I believe the Butrans is also known as Suboxone, is that correct? Again, I have no experience with this, but there are others here who do. What is your plan with your doctor regarding the Suboxone? The reason I ask is because that is also an opiate drug and should be used only for a short time, and with a specific plan for coming off of it. Suboxone is also addictive and very difficult to come off of especially after long term use. The withdrawals from Suboxone are the same as from Norco, but can be more intense and last longer.

Hang in there, others with experience in this will weigh in. Take care!

Thank you! I've been taking up to 25 10/325 Norcos a day for years. It finally came to a head and my PM gave me Butrans 20mcg patches (buprenorphine) along with 1 mg Klonipin pills to ease the withdrawals. I've been through this before and tried tapering down, cold turkey with Xanax, but nothing helped! The hot/cold sweats, stomach cramps, diarrhea, shakes, headaches, every fiber of my being hurt. I laid in bed for 3 days and couldn't move. Sweating profusely. I took my last 4 Norcos at 4pm yesterday and took a Klonipin at 8pm and slapped the patch on at 8:30pm. I woke up this morning without anxiety, my pulse was 60, and not a bit of sweat! I feel a little achy and lethargic, but that's been the worst of it. I am 5 feet tall and weigh 93 lbs. For someone of my size to ingest 25-30 Norcos a day is disturbing and if you have any suggestions on how to move forward in this journey, please share! Many thanks!

The anxiety isn't completely gone and I had some crazy attack just about an hour ago.  The methadone taper is going to take too long.  The saboxone taper is 6 weeks.  The dr. doesn't allow any longer nor do they like methadone.  I'm almost positive that these are good people who want to see me off of the methadone asap.  It's 6 weeks of Saboxone or another 3 or 4 months tapering the methadone which sounds like agonizing hell even jumping at 1 mg.  Plus I am having crazy heart palpitations ( hopefully from the anxiety and not the methadone )  I wan't it out of my body.  Saboxone is the fastest way that it can be done safely.  It's a mess.  Anything will be better than the methadone.  I'm happy I found you guys.  Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Sandy, welcome to the forum. There is lots of advice and support here.  Many of us have detoxed from all different kinds of substances. Do you have a particular question for us? Are you having any withdrawal symptoms? Have you discussed your quitting with your doctor? I am not familiar with Butrans. Please tell us a bit more about your specific situation, and ask any questions you may have. We can give you help and support. Take care, and best wishes!
