Nurofen Plus

I am a returning member to this forum. I went through ct 2 years ago and am now doing it again. I am up to day 5 ct and it is crap. I know what to expect so this is nothing new. What i would like to know is how the hell do I stay off these things.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I do not know much about Nurofen but I wanted to welcome you.  There is no easy answer for how to stay off of them...it is a process of self discovery patience, simplicity, and sometimes fear.  How long did you have clean and when did the relapse start?

Hi,im from the uk,Nurofen plus was the my doc for years taking up to  60 a day.Its really difficult not to start up again because as you know its sold over the counter.12 5mg of codeine each tablet pack of 32 i was getting 2 packs in no time. Its crazy, what i did wasgo around the chemists within my area and tell them never to sell me any because im addicted.did the same with the doc.I totally changed my lifestyle;friends, stopped drinking because that triggered things for me.Got myself into getting a buzz of exercise which far exceeds anything nurofen plus can give.A realisation that this is the way i want to live life,so far its so good

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I was taking 60 a day, sometimes more. That is correct, you can just go and buy a pack and I was like oh I will just get one packet. Never did it stop at one packet. I have to say I am thinking along the same lines as you, getting fit and getting on top of my life. At the moment I am only running at 50% and things were falling apart. How long have you been clean now. ?

Six month now, relapsing many times because i didnt change the circumstances. All i thought of was shotting as many pills as possible down my neck and thinking i was living life.Let me tell you, your not living. I remember after a couple of weeks looking at my daughters and actually noticing the happiness in their faces and actually communicating with them properly. That is worth a hundred times more than a chemical haze.I would seriously go to the places you get them from and tell them never to give you any more for a start off.You really can give up this ****,and start living life again.

You are so right about it not living. I have just felt totally void of emotion for the past 6 months.

This is my last chance. If i don't stick to it I am sure my marriage will be over. My husband has been supportive again this time but I can see he is devastated that I am here again. Things will definitely need to change and I look forward to the time I can say it has been 6 months. Thanks for your support. Oh and Happy New Year. It is 1.19 am January 1, 2014.

Things do need to change, doing the same things over again will cause a relapse. You will get 6 months in im sure, but just stay focused on now and keeping off them for today. Its 4pm where i am,so a few hrs to go.But happy new year to you too.

Thanks again for your reply. I am concentrating on getting back to health day by day. I will concentrate on this but at the moment I am not giving the pills any thoughts.

I am in Australia and this will be my New Years Resolution. Stay fit and healthy and do the right things by the ones I love.

Cheers,

Day 7 today of ct. Still have achey legs and sleeplessness. Went to dr and got some sleeping pills. Nausea gone and eating again. Feeling better than day 3. Still weak from 4 days of no eating though. I will soldier on - it is going to be worth it.

Sohhs, get you some ensure or something like it and drink plenty of Gatorade. You can do this, you have the worst of the physical behind you. I'll keep you in my prayers. God Bless

Hey there. Thanks so much for your advice and prayers. I have been drinking a drink called hydralite, which is like gatorade and feel that it has helped a lot. Like I said I am feeling better but sleeplessness is the worst. The pills the doc gave me today aren't working. So here I am another night sitting up waiting for sleep to come, very stressful.
Thanks again tooter212.

Managed to get out of the house and to the shops today. It was hard but felt good. Day 8 and getting stronger. Sleep still a pain in the arse but restless legs don't feel too bad today.

Can't wait for this to be over.

Hi there, just to let you know I am still soldiering on and up to Day 19 today. It seems like an eternity ago that I took my last pills. Stomach feeling normal, still very restless at night but no where near as bad as earlier on.

Thanks for your help and advice. It is nice to know there is support. Cheers.

Wow good for you.
You are doing so well.
Keep eating healthy and take vitamins.  We put our body through so much when we are on pills so we have to be good to it now.
Are you managing to get some sleep?
I know that's usually the biggest complaint after getting clean.
You should be so proud of yourself.

Hi Pat 1956100, nice to hear your positive comments. Unfortunately decent sleep is still eluding me. I love my sleep so much however my body is not ready to give it back to me. My legs still a bit achey but mostly okay. Eating well and am taking vitamins.

Take care, and thanks again.

Yeah it's crazy how much it messes with your sleep.  It will return.
You have such a positive attitude and seem to just be going with the flow.
That helps so much.  It is what it is and we just have to get through it.
Keep posting.  It's nice to hear a success story.

Hey.. Hate to see that you relapsed but welcome back!! That's why we stress the importance of aftercare! Getting clean is the easy part.. Staying clean is where the real work begins!! You have to cut ALL of your sources! Leave no crack unsealed! Change your playground, and put your recovery first! Your recovery has got to go to the top of your list as your number one priority! What are you going to do differently this time around?

Also, have you tried melatonin for sleep? Also their is HYLANDS PM for restless leg and sleep! Unfortunately, sleep is the last thing to return! Hang in there!

Yes it sure does mess with your sleep. I am wondering how long this will go on for? I will keep posting. It makes me remember why I am doing this in the first place as seeing my earlier posts reminds me of how sick I have been.

Hi there, no I haven't tried those products. Are they available in Australian Chemists? If so, I will try to get it. Do you need a prescription for these things?

Hey there! I don't know for sure because I live in the U.S. , but you should be able to at least find the Melatonin where you are. It's just a natural supplement and is right with the vitamins, minerals, and supplements in most stores and pharmacies. Great job on your clean time! Stay strong and keep fighting because it really does get better.
