I feel your pain my friend. I am on day 7 and my RLS is a lot better but has also left me weak . I drank a lot of water and after day 2 I got up and did some walking and it did help some. I have no craving for the Hydro's anymore after all I have been thru. Stick it out cause I promise it will get better.

GOOD POINT ABOUT THE OTC SLEEP AIDS!!!!!!!!  I had tried taking benadryl to help with my sleep.  It worked great when i wasnt using.  However during withdrawl you will  be driven insane.  It made my RLS 100 times worse.  It has the totally opposite effect.  Im glad you brought that up.  Live and learn

I had rls before I got hooked on opiates (actually one of the reasons I got hooked) so when I would quit I would always get rebound rls. It's why they call it "kicking the habit" because it's part of the ride to recovery. There is a lot of good advice above, especially the magnesium. I would take it in the morning and evening to make sure it was always in my system. The one thing I had to learn the hard way though was that otc sleep aides would throw me into hyper rls. Try cutting those out completely for a while because their effectiveness is futile in the beginning anyway. After a couple of weeks I found a product called sleep md. It is melatonin and other natural ingredients like valerian root. All This coupled with listening to binaural beats at night actually started to produce deep peaceful sleep. Everyone is different but it maybe worth a try. Good luck and hang in there.

Tom86  is right. I won't even let my cat sleep with me cos I'll be kicking around all night.  It's so hard to get any sleep and once u finally do and someone or something wakes u up.... it will **** you off really bad cos u can't get back to sleep again!
But it's not for ever. I'm getting more and more sleep now after a good 3 to 4 weeks,  so hang in there! You're doing great!

My advice to you is this. RLS is totally normal and expected during the acute phase of withdrawal. One thing you must try and accept is that your sleep will not be normal for quite some time. If you were like me you would lay down at bed time totally exhausted and become very disapointed because you can't relax enough to fall asleep. You must go to bed knowing what to expect. You might if you are lucky get a small amount of sleep off and on. It will get better each night. I found it easier to sleep without my wife. I was kicking soo bad it would keep her awake and in return she would wake me up fussing that I was keeping her awake. It was a awful cycle. Just tell yourself the truth. Bedtime will suck for a while. That way you are not as disapointed in the morning. Try to stay busy during the day so you don't nap. Make yourself tired more and more every night. With time you will look back and be happy that you will never have to go thru that ever again

Girl you really need someone to help you with the kids. I have three boys and I went deep into the country side and left my boys with my husband for a month. Try to think of someone u can trust to look after them. You will need to focus on you for at least a month. It will make it that much harder since u can barely take care of yourself at the moment.
I really hope u can find someone, maybe tell that person the truth and u never know, they might understand and help.
Take care and all the best.

Hi  well catt has given you great advise  there are a few things you can do tonight....get a blanket and wrap your legs tightly with it  kinda like swaddling a baby this helped me also if you have a walmert or wallgeens close by get up there and there is a herbal fix called  ''highlands restful legs'' it come in a small bottle 2in long 1/2 in round so you got to look for it it will be in with the vitamins and herbals this also will help it about 3 bucks and is all natural... a hot soak with epsom salt goes a long way also   just know this   it will pass with time  I have said this a million times...''you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile''....keep your eyes on the prize and just know it is so so worth it..........Gnarly

Hi, first of all, don't bother laying down to sleep. You'll just get more anxious that you aren't sleeping. It's okay, insomnia never killed anyone. Some peeps literally stay in a VERY hot bath w/ epsom salts constantly. If you have to take a bath over and over, so be it. I've also heard bananas (the potassium) is helpful. And, try that Hyland's restless leg stuff (at pharmacy or grocery store.) Some OTC for sleep can make anxiety/rls worse. I would stay away from them. Try melatonin. But, just for tonight, don't expect to sleep. Get a bunch of movies and let the time pass.

You are on day 3, that's the worst. Guess what, you are IN it, it won't get worse. It will slowly start to get better. I promise you, this will pass, and if you follow a program to STAY clean, you will never have to go thru this again:)

Hang in there and stay close to the site.

Hi
There wasn't much I could do when the restless legs came to visit me on the first week. The guys on this site had taught me so much and told me to take vitamins that has magnesium,  protein shakes, eat plenty of bananas ( omg  it really does help) and soak your body/legs in Epsom salt in a hot bath.
Hang in there, it's different for ever body I've learnt.
Also I was lucky to have a family member to massage my legs before bed til I slept. Can u find someone to help you with that also?
someone will come along shortly and this is what they've taught me to speed up my recovery.
all the best.
