Opiate withdrawals

I have been struggling with an opiate addiction for about 1 year and a half now. Im 23 years of age and I have been taking anywhere from 10 to 20 pills almost everyday, and I know now that it needs to stop. I will be fathering my first child in a few months and I dont want these pills to run my life anymore. It is my time to get passed this. As far as going to rehab or meetings, that is not for me. It cant happen. The only person to know of my addiction is my girlfriend and I intend to keep it that way. I CAN GET THROUGH THIS ON MY OWN. I guess my question is just for any tips or tricks anyone has taken who has been through this. Any remedies for withdrawals? Ways to keep your mind off wanting to get high, just anything that would be helpful. I greatly appreciate any responses to this at all. Thank you very much.

I'm currently on my second day of w/d from 120 a day oxy habit .  It's been pretty tough.  As far as tricks to help you beat the cravings... set your mind on a goal, I'd pick  your daughter.   When the urge arises to use... think her.  Thayer will help you get through the mental aspect of it.  As far as the physical part?  I recommend Gabapentin.   It's a godsend for withdrawals. I'd say It's taken away 60% of the withdrawal pain, along with some Imodium.
Just remeber your a father now, and you can be ******* around with this stuff anymore.  Figure out the main cuase of why you started abusing opiate and solve it.
I wish you the best of luck, just remeber to stay strong.

what do u take???  and yes u can do this alone..but u do need support..by alone i mean u do not necesaarily need inpatient rehab cos many do not..many here did it at home as well....10-20 pills a day leaves a big gap...for instance 100 mgs of hydro//10 -10 mgs pills is not huge//significant but not huge..was my dose for 3-4 yrs....200 mgs gets a bit tougher tho...but still do-able as is any dose..just gotta want it..keep posting

you have a lot on your side....you are 23,and been using a year or so.....i was 44 and had been using on and off for YEARS!!...started with vics and then to oxys omg dont ever do those, one day i woke up and knew i couldnt do it anymore..the constant chasing the pills down, always running out...when you know youre done youre done...and you have the best incentive coming your way oooo a baby!!!..i was scared to quit because i was soooooooo afraid of what would happen to me...and you know what,it was bad but not that bad,i had quit on a thursday (yup ran outta pills) had fri sat and sun to have the "flu"...i slept and sweated but i was one of the lucky ones to be able to sleep..prob because i would stay up all night cleaning on the oxys so i needed the rest..anyway get a multiviamin and some ensure if youre not hungry..youll have a couple days of the flu and then when you wake up in a dry bed..wait that doesnt sound right but you know what i mean...the physical wds come and go...and then i felt a little weak but ok...and i had cravings maybe 3 months later?? cant remember....but they passed...and stay here and keep posting your progress...and the stronger you get the more youll be like "what did i ever do those things for"
you can ask me anything about it...

Check out the Thomas Recipe & Amino Acid Protocol contained in the Health Pages on this site.  Very good info there and will help you get over the physical wds.  Also check out the PAWS info...most will say quitting is easy but staying clean is hard.

Good Luck,

Guy
