PLASE HELP! IS THERE SUBUTEX IN CANADA AVAILABLE!

NOT SUBOXONE, I WANT SUBUTEX, WITHOUT NALOXONE!
I have looked all over for this, my doctor says not available in canada, only suboxone, looking at leaflet the side effects are crazy yet subutex, nothing! I have a problem with naloxone, need straight SUBUTEX! I can't find proper details about this, anyone help, BTW

I AM NOT AN ADDICT! I have never abused heroin or injected anything, etc........ If you look at leaflet, a page and a half of "side effects for suboxone where, only i small paragraph for subtex! the naloxone is causing the problems.  Plus my dr. gave my methadone with straight water before which would have a higher abuse potential! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Why do you need Subutex?  If you're not an addict?  Is it for pain?

Have you taken Suboxone before and had problems?  Any side effects listed would mostly be attributed to the buprenorphine, not the naloxone.  Suboxone is actually very well tolerated by most people.  The people who run into side effects usually are overmedicated, given too high a dose.

Some more info would be helpful.

sorry what is the difference between films and tablets! i know it is sublingual? I doubt it! Suboxone is new to Canada and brand new to drug plans, which is why i switched! In the long run, besides the pain, i prefer the subs over the done, Anyday, plus i have no appetite, so i will quickly lose the 30 pounds i put on with methadone! WOO HOO You are right, it is getting better and maybe jumping the gun too soon as it will be 2 weeks on Thurs. Thank you for all info, even though my threads are jumping around and being put together as "one topic appears to be similar to next" that is email i got from this team anyways!

OK a new thread is what we will get since many of you asked, hopefully i am doing this right! What do you find better for pain, methadone or suboxone? Also what do you feel is worse in terms of side effects between the two of them? Which do you overall think is better and what can i use for pain that is least toxic???? to liver/stomache/weight gain etc. that is generally used with suboxone?

i know that is why i am wondering if the bupe patch would be any better! I read a post that it is available under extreme cases!
"I would like to except up where I live in Toronto, Canada, subutex is ONLY available under the most extreme situation. You need to get proof you would be allergic to the naloxone. Other than that, suboxone is the only choice in the category."

So maybe still a chance, lol! I dont know some people hypersensitive to it, others not i have heard both sides on different sites!~ I wonder what is true!

Well, Subutex isn't an option for you, so it's kind of a moot point.  You would have to decide how to proceed...ditching the Sub for something else, or staying on it and trying to manage the side effects.  You will have to discuss your pain management options with your doc.  That would be so individual to each case, and we're not permitted to make specific recommendations anyway.

You don't want to spit after your dose.  Actually, it's best to not eat or drink for about an hour either, to ensure the best absorption.  Are you using the films or tablets?  If tabs, ask if you could be switched to the films...it's more accurate dosing, less bothersome taste, and better absorption.  Most sub docs here are only Rx'ing films.

There are some pretty consistent reports about people having deteriorating dental health after many years on Sub.  There are a few theories, but nothing concrete.  All opiates have the side effect of dry mouth, which can definitely add to problems with the teeth.  Another theory that, Like Methadone, Sub "settles" in the bones and teeth, causing issues.

Leaflet - Side effects - Suboxone
, Under each of these headings are seperate conditions! It would take far to long to write all of them, sorry! Lets see Body as a whole - 20 conditions listed; Cardivascular -3, Digestive - 14; Hemic and Lymphatic - 3; Metabolism and Nutrition difficulties - 3; Muscoskeletal - 5; Nervous system - 14, Respiratory - 12; skin-9; special senses - 5 ; Urogenital- 7 For a grand total of THATS RIGHT 100 different side effects (scary) Now for Bupenorphine alone, drum role please - only 14 in total wit 3 being very rare! So I will do the math, unfortunately i can't get subutex. I wonder what leaflet would like like for methadone, yet that doesn't come with script!

It may, it may not.  Some people report that it is effective while on sub, others say they get no relief at all.  I would think that there would be better alternatives.

and if they are they to protect the pharmaceutical industry, them subutex, would have all 94 side effects posted, as leaflet is for both! Yet it doesn't, so I KNOW that it is naloxone doing this! I am stuck either way! What did you come clean from, because If I knew then...... I would have come clean or at least stayed on the oxy's and never taken dr.'s advice about methadone and was way too young to understand the impact of it all!

It is not mental hun, I suffered in agony for 2 years clean off of methadone, was i stupid to go back = YES! Do i want or have the time to spend another 2 years glued to my sofa, NOOOOO! Of course we all want to be painfree! It is a little late for that now! Trust me, if i didn't have such paranoia and feel totally messed up i would smoke weed. I have been on every opiate possible, and have been on methadone for 10 years in total. This is why 98% of people fail to stay off, 2 weeks, 6 months fine, but 2 years+! That is not bearable for me! I don't do recreational drugs, not interested, I have since stopped drinking, i am back on the gym! I just want to feel no pain, feel somewhat "normal" again, not looking for a euphoria or "high"

Toradol is not an opiate, it is an NSAID, like Motrin.  Depending on what kind of pain you have, that  actually may be an option.

I think you were thinking of Tramadol, which is an opiate-like medication.

I have scoliosis and degenerative arthritis. I manage my pain better now that I have been clean awhile. You really seem focused on finding a drug to fix you, be careful, you may turn into an addict. I have studied subs as much as one can. Did you know that there are no studies about the long term use of subs or subs and pregnancy. There are not many FACTS out there. A lot of the info out there is really general and is there to protect the pharms from liability. Have you read the info on the inventors web site? Have you read all the clinical study results? Have you known dozens of sub patients and observed them over time? I read that buprenorphine and methadone done have physical withdrawal symptoms, it's all mental. That does not make it true. You are not getting random perspectives from any off us. That piece of paper in your hand is based on all the same research I have read. It is more of a legal document than a therapy. Be careful about what you read, even pharmacies and doctors are manipulative for their own protection and profit. Okay, enough from me, I don't know that you have ALL the FACTS. I am okay with disagreement, lack of humility and open-mindedness really annoy me. I'm learning to deal with it more maturely, but I had to say something.

No i had the effects plus the withdrawal from 2 mgs all the way to 12mgs which i am currently on! Still some effects, way better than methadone, but some of the things listed are pretty scary, as mentioned compared to bupe alone, which in clinical studies is barely anything! I'd hate to read a package insert for methadone but the drug never came with any! The major things are lack of sleep, muscle cramps, pelvic pain, back pain (scoliosis) fibromyalgia. Tremendous headache and neck pain, as i guess from the car accident i had a month ago, but never felt it as methadone worked better for pain! Maybe give it some time????? What shall i suggest the dr. to give me for pain as it wipes codeine right out. My clinic dr. said Toradol, but then i learned it is a mild opiate, duh! He even said that i could still use codeine with subs before i switched????? Obviously not! So i need something that won't make me gain weight, constipated, and won't damage my liver or stomache, i know, hard to find, but most importantly something that will work for pain issues while on subs! Or I may try the Butran patch, but very expensive, any ideas?

The main manufacturers and distributor of buprenorphine discourage to use of subutex, it can be used to get high. The US has had many children, small children, get into the subutex tabs. The governments and manufacturers are pushing to make suboxone FILM the only available bupe outside a hospitol setting. It is still in litigation.

Nursegirl knows her stuff. It is likely the bupe, not naloxone causing the problem. Used orally, naloxone is rendered inert, barely traceable, if at all in your blood. Being as you are not an addict, have you tried posting on the pain management forum. Subs are controversial anyway, but in this forum, especially. It is likely subutex is not available in Canada.

Well i have 1/3 of the side effects that i just found in leaflet, 1/3 i don't understand, and we are talking 1 page and a half of side effects of suboxone, vs. 1 small paragraph of Bupe alone, subutex. It is not here in Canada, We have a patch that lasts for 7 days with only bupenorphine in it! Very expensive! I actually find the side effects are more tolerable, still they are there! Nonetheless, as said, it beats the brutal, unbearing side effects, of toxic waste = METHADONE! and by the way I am no junkie. My doctor used to give me methadone straight up in nothing but water! So if i really wanted to abuse a medication........... And yes I have pain still!
