Pain Meds

I don't consider myself a textbook addict. I am sure I am an addict I am on Fentenyl 100mcg every 3 days and have recently been switched to oxycodone 15 mg 4 times a day.  I went from 10/325mg to 15mg.  My question is how much of a difference between the 2 is it signific a difference or not I have 2 boys ages 12 and 8 and I want to know how big of a difference there is I am concerened they will see me in a drunken state.  I want to shield them as much as possible.   To be honest I "need" the Fentenyl but the 10/325 i could take it or leave it.  I get 120 a month and take  them all in 1 and 1/2 weeks but then I amm happier cuz life goes back to normal.

Well u r using the patch for ur legit pain,it works etc.A lot of addicts can have one med the dnt abuse but another they do.U say u can take em or leave em so u should tell ur dr and stop taking them. Its an awful road and u r lucky u dnt care much about em.The thing is u would go through awful w/d if not for the patch.U r abusing them(the pills)taking double or more a day what ur prescribed. Its kinda like u have u pain under control but take em for fun with no w/d which is an addicts dream.U will take em id u have em,so dnt get em.Ur lucky to have something that helps with ur pain thats controlled.Ur on a slippery slope sweetie.Dnt get to where ur so out of control.u cnt go back and u will get there.I dnt c why u would take them and so many if u werent getting a buzz.U may wanna think about that.we r all addicts we took and over took pills to get high.

Hi Rjwells. Welcome to the forum.. Addiction is not about growing up and is not about being stupid.. You are a addict displaying all the addict behaviors.. Your drug of choice is the oxy/percs. You can not control yourself to take as prescribed The anxiety with them in the house is the inability to control your actions I would think.. You can OD so easily.. Please speak with your Dr. be Honest our at the very least tell him you no longer need them as the Fent is taking care of the pain.. I Pray you take this seriously.. lesa

Taking the oxycodone (esp. at higher than prescribed doses) is really dangerous in my opinion.  Your tolerance will likely build quickly and then you could become dependent on it as well.  If you really don't "need" it as you have indicated, then I would stay away from it.

I also can't tell you the difference between the two but your behavior with the oxys is dangerous.  I am not sure what you are getting them prescribed for.  I assume it is or legitimate pain but most drs, maybe not yours, will do random drug tests and if you have not taken any in a week and a half before you go to the dr and he gives you a urinalysis you will dome back clean and he/she may take them away.  I guess it depends on the dr.  If you can make it that long with your pain without taking any then you need to talk to your dr about lowering you down from 120 to something else and take them as prescribed.
I am just concerned for you.  I know you think you have control over it right now.....we all thought that at one time.
Be careful please.

1st if ur taking a months supply n 10-14days then as u say life goes back to normal and u could take em or leave em u r not just addicted ur really abusing them.YES there is a difference thats significant between the 10's and the 15's.U will notice the difference. If ur ok with the patch and use it as directed u should drop thw other pills altogether since u know u abuse them etc and dnt really need em.Not sure why u say ur not a typical addict as u r displaying typical addict behavior.

Not sure about the differences in the two. I was told once if I have to ask about being an addict, I just might be one. If any mind altering drug does more than take the pain away or what it is prescribed to do...you just might be. 120 is a large quantity for only 11/2 to 2 weeks. If you are following the prescribed amount then no worries. Right??
