Pain, No Sleep, 4:17 AM

I think this is Day 4 for me. I still cannot sleep, because of pain. I used to medicate my self to sleep. I took 4 antihistamines and that didn't work. I have been on this stuff for 7 years. The nights are the worse. grrrrrrrrrr

What methods did you use to get to sleep that worked? How long did it take you to be able to sleep? To sleep normally?

Thanks

Congrats on day 4 you are almost through the worst of it, hang in there, I promise it gets better! I was lucky to never have sleep trouble, I take a non narcotic rx called trazadone and it is amazing!! If you have a family dr you may be able to call them and tell them you are having trouble sleeping and ask for a script, tell them a friend told ya about it. Keep up the good work your doing great!! If you get a chance check out my post on the social side "My Never again list" I think it will lift your spirits. Big hugz

I also would love to have some good sleep.  I slept last night for about 3 hours but I didnt feel rested at all.  I have been taking clonodine and it seems to help with the shaky legs and anxiety a bit.  Otherwise I am just hanging in there until the poison is out of my system.

Hurray LURKER HAS 2 DAYS !!!!   Thats great!  I exercised. I had to. The creepy feeling was driving me crazy. The more I walked the more relaxed I got so I could catch some sleep. I didnt get a straight 8 hours for the first 4 or 5 days. But dont forget to keep positive thoughts ....like I will never be whipped and humiliated by this drug again!   I'm getting through this and will never lose sleep for those pills again.  or thank you God is a good thought. Whatever it takes dont even take one.

I have tried everything to sleep from Ambien to Halicon and natural stuff.  The one thing that usually works for me is a hot cup of Sleepy time time while I in a hot bath.  Most of the time I fall asleep in the tub and my hubby has to wake me up.  As soon as I'm out before I'm even dried of competely I go straight to bed.  Give it a shot.  It can't hurt.

Good morning- I'm on day 6 no norco/vicodin and last night was my first night of sleep and I used daily for a little less than 2 years.  Day 4 was the absolute worse for me - which just the memory of that will keep me from using.  You can do it - the rebound pain is what you're experiencing and IT DOES GO AWAY as someone above said with time.

I followed lots of advice on here and it all helped a little, which was better than nothing - hot baths, many vitamins (multi and bcomplex), gatorade and hydration and just sleep if you have that luxury!

You can and will do it!! Good luck, keep us posted!

The pain is in my shoulder. I have nerve damage in my upper back. I also have artheritis, colitis, and a painful hernia right now. For some reason the pain feels amplified. I think I mentioned this in my first post.

I am going to play with my Sugar Gliders now. They are nocternal.

Nothing but time will help right now.  Just try to accept that this is what it takes for awhile.  It took me until night 12, but I used hard and heavy for about 12 years.  I think you get about one night per year of no sleep.  Regardless of how long it takes, its worth it.  I know right now thats hard to believe.  Theres no short cut to freedom.  but man, you will be so glad you fought thru this, Hang in there, fight for each hour and each day right now.  You will get thru this.  There are much better days ahead.
