Patience

Hi everyone.  I've been seeing a lot of posts this weekend that all end with the same answer:  Patience.  Predicting how someone is going to react during withdrawal isn't an exact science.  In fact one person can go through CT Withdrawals 3 times and each time will be different.  That is why you will get so many different pieces of advice from a lot of different people.

Some things we can say for sure:  you will feel like you have a really bad flu, you will have tummy and bathroom issues, you will not want to eat or drink...things like that.  We can't predict if you are going to have rebound issues...your W/D's may seem like the worst of it is done after 10 days but at day 16 WHAM you feel bad again.  We can't predict these things because it is your body...your body is trying to heal itself.  Sometimes there will be a person who has occasional bad days for months....other people seem to glide through it without any additional problems.  We can't predict that though.

So we advocate patience...what we DO know is that things will get better.  Sometimes slower than normal, other times faster than normal.  Through that patience we can predict that you will get through it and things will get better...when your body starts feeling more normal.

Most of us who want to help so badly are still learning ourselves...we do have some wonderful people in this forum who have been sober for years so they are pretty much done with the detox end of it...but as with all of us, they continually fight the sobriety fight.  I had 2 bad days this week...particular with insomnia and tummy issues.  Now everything seems fine again.  Of course I'm hoping I'm done with it but I'm aware that some other issues may still come up now and then.  Here again, I need to have patience...eventually it will all even out.

Be patient my dear MH Family and Friends....we all need to be patient, watch out for each other, learn from each other, teach each other new things and, always, be honest with each other.  In this way we can support each other here in addition to our aftercare programs.  As has been said many times, addiction is an "I" disease, aftercare and sobriety is a "we" issue.  We need to be supportive of each other, we need to help each other and we need to learn from each other.  We need to be kind to one another.  It is okay to have a bad day...no one will judge you...but an occasional "I'm sorry I was such a putz" won't hurt anyone either.

Be Patient with me...because patient has never been my middle name.  This is one of the hardest things I'm having to learn...so if you see me being impatient please remind me of this little conversation...and I don't mind constructive criticism at all :-)

May God and all the Angels touch you this week and help you be better!

Hugz

Patience and Time are the 2 most hated words here!!!  We all like that instant gratification thing and with recovery it is all about P and T!!!

Patience takes a lot of practice on my part...we like in an instant society...and we want it now....we don't have the time to take..we think.  But we need to make time, take time, find time, spend time, to work on our recovery

Oh Yes!! I know I have pushed Time & Patience around here for a couple of Years..Also many factors play a big role on how fast we will bounch back..Like AGE, How many Years we used, What kind of drug we tapered or c/t, Health, and how many drugs at once.
I c/t 3 meds as most of my MH Friends know and I did not have a bathroom issues..I ate every meal too..I just had high Anxiety to the moon and sleep issues was a big one..BUT it took me 6 months of many, many physical changes & then at 7-9 was the Mental..It took me at least 2 years to come around Mentally which affected me Physically, but I am a long time user and a older but wiser woman these days..ha! Better LATE then never..Like the saying about if I could just take it all back!!!!SO we are the same in some ways but very different in others. ONE thing in common is that we have a Disease that affects the Brain in many ways let alone the damage it can do to the body after many year of using.
No matter what we ALL NEED SUPPORT and MORE SUPPORT!!!!!

Nothing wrong with games to lighten things up...my humor pops up at weird times because I would rather laugh than cry

Hahahaha!

My Grams used to say she was just going to take a PTA bath....ROFL

Then there are the mothers who can relate to PTA from their kids' school.

Then there is a recovering addict's meaning:...Patience.....Time......Acceptance.......

I love to play games sometimes to help me lighten up~
