Percocet withdrawl

BCZ
In the summer of 2012 I was involved in an accident. I had severe back pain and went to a physical therapist for 4 months. For the duration of the 4 months I was prescribed 10mg percocets. So for 4 months I took the percocets regularly. The physical therapy was of no help to fix my back pain, so I switched to a pain management specialist who does not prescribe opiates. Thankfully the new doctor was able to treat my pain through pressure points and I no longer needed to take percocets. I had never taken opiates before. By day two of being clean from the percocets I began to feel like crap and researched many forums in search of what to expect in the next few days. I read many stories of peoples similar experiences and got a round about idea of what to expect. But none of them prepared me for the harsh reality of the nasty side effects this horrible drug leaves you with. This is my personal experience and I hope I can help people understand what to expect when getting clean from opiates. First let me say, prepare for at least 5 days of feeling horribly sick, but it is not impossible to get through it. I warn you now that I am holding nothing back, these descriptions may be very graphic and disterbing.

Day 1) I felt fine and convinced myself that I was not going to have any withdrawl symptoms. (The drug was still heavily in my system and I experienced no side effects.)

Day 2) I began to feel very tired, my stomach hurt like I had a stomach virus. I also had my first bowel movement which didn't happen regularly while on the percocets and was also black in color (very scary). By the evening I was stricken with bouts of black diarrhea. I then began researching forums of withdrawl side effects to learn what to expect. None prepared me for the next few days. Thats why I am posting my day by day experiences to hopefully help others going through the same thing.

Day 3) This day marked the first day of feeling like complete hell. I felt like I had the full blown flu. I didn't feel nausious, however I had absolutely no appitite untill late into the evening. The black diarrhea persisted. The overwhelming feeling of fatigue had me hopefull for a good night of sleep. I maybe got 3 hours of sleep that night due to the uncontrolable bouts of restless leg syndrom, unusually in my arms though. Activon joint & muscle analgesic stick helped me get some much needed relief. You can buy it at walmart near the bend gay & icy hot patches.

Day 4) Still felt extremely exhausted but a tad bit better then the day before, but not much. No appitite but had my first solid bowel movement although still black in color (still very scary). Hopefull for a good nights sleep but to no avail. By this time I am slathering the Activeon onto my arms untill it felt like I was going to burn off my skin. Then came the Blessed 5 hours of much needed sleep.

Day 5) This marked the first day that I could honestly say that I was feeling better. I was able to enjoy getting things done with minor fatigue. Had another solid bowel movement that was still black in color. As bed time approched I was terrified to go to sleep, but other then tossing and turning for about an hour, I experienced no restless leg (arm) syndrom and enjoyed my first night of solid sleep.

Day 6) I am currently on my sixth day of being clean from opiates and I still feel a tad bit sluggish but after the week I have had, that is something that I can easily deal with. I have also had a nomal colored, solid bowel movement! It feels wonderful knowing that I have overcome such horrific withdrawl symptoms and I am now well on my way to feeling better.

I own a cleaning business and I had a very busy week of work while experiencing horrific withdrawl symptoms. If you have ever cleaned a house from top to bottom, then you may understand how exhausting that alone can be. I cleaned 6 accounts by myself and managed through it. I said all of that to explain this, If I can work my fingers to the bone and struggle through the symptoms of withdrawl, you too can get through this and live an opiate free life. I hope this will help others learn what to similarly expect and help them with their road to recovery. I was only on percocet for a short 4 months. Others who have been on opiates longer will experince longer, harsher withdrawl side effects. But stay strong, it's not impossible to quit.
