Preparing for percocet withdrawal this week

I will be out by the end of the week so I'm planning on cutting back starting today. There's only been one day
In the past 4 years I haven't had them so I'm scared.
That one day was a living he'll. I'm even more scared bc
Of some of the posts I've read, I didn't realize withdrawal
Could last that long. I'm a mom to a 3 year old a one year
Old and an 8 week old. Broke my pelvic bone with the delivery of my
First son that's how this started. I haven't needed them for over 2+ years
But still take them. Husband doesn't know so I'm terrified
Of going through this especially when my little ones are counting
On me. sorry this is so choppy, typing quickly on my phone.
Plus, we just moved to a new state for my husbands job and we
Have three dogs. Between my three children under 4, the dogs and
Trying to unpack I don't know how I'm going to
Survive without them to take the edge off. But, I have no way
Of getting them here and I'm a suburban mom not about to
Go to the streets to buy them. Before I was getting them
From someone that "knew someone." an expensive habit at $1000
Every couple weeks. Can't do it anymore. Where do I start, how do I prepare?
Help.

Just wondering how u r doing? I just finished a week long taper. Couldn't sleep on the taper, restless leg etc. Wondering how today will go but excited to move on. The guilt of taking them everyday is gone. Taper was near impossible, took more discipline than I was prepared for, had good days and bad but overall feel good about it.

I am on day 6 of the norco 10 wds. Nobody knew I was taking them. I'm a stay at home dad and I had to tell my wife and parents. I went and stayed with folks for two days during the worst of it. There's no way you'll be able to hide the wds. In my opinion. I couldn't. People were upset with me when I told em about my lying about the drugs but the weight off my shoulders after coming clean to family was tremendous. It should definitely bring down your anxiety. It's hard but u can do it..

I agree that you need to get honest with your husband. He can help you with the taper. Tapering is tricky business on a good day, I cannot imagine trying it on my own and hiding it as well.

When you get through this you will find that you will have many good days.

Hang in there and post when you can.

I agree with Dave your mind will only make wds worse. Also think that a lot of scary stories don't help the bottom line is you will feel like you have a bad flew or cold for 3-4 days and will feel so much better before you know it.good luck.

You need to tell your husband. You really do. You have a full plate and this is almost impossible to do in secret. Mentally you'll feel much better if you talk to him. You're going to need some help. It's time to take care of you now.  You should also get with a doctor. There are comfort meds that can be prescribed.  I doubt you can taper on your own but maybe your husband could help. You're already shooting yourself in the foot with those thoughts of "I need something in the morning".  No,you really don't. You can function quite nicely without the pills.

Please ask for help. That's the best advice. Keep posting to us...

I think the hardest part is mental, not physical. Yesterday was my first taper day, didn't even take my first till 11am. Was hoping to take first at 1pm today but Took it at 8am, hectic morning needed it to take the edge off. Only problem is, I should be done for the day bc I've taken all im supposed to and it's only 420. I need to make it through those morning hours where everyone needs me for something...kids and dogs. If I can make myself run tomorrow bf the kids get up it might help. Only problem is I'm always tired from being up all night with the baby. I can't imagine getting to a point when I'll feel like I can survive a day without them. Do you really get to a point where you feel like a normal person?

Considering the circumstances of all the responsibilities you have, it would be best to consult a Dr on developing a plan with him..A taper will help alot but your still going to have issues with lack of energy compounded by some insomnia the first 2 or 3 weeks which tends to wear a person down both mentally and physically..

Try not to overthink the withdrawal process ahead of time as that alone tends to freak a person out before they even get to the point they stop..Then when the wd's start hitting, crazy speculative thoughts run thru a person's head making things even worse..

The wd's are not comfortable by any means but they are not to be feared..If you've prepared yourself mentally to see it thru no matter what comes at you and get those first 3 days behind you no matter what, then things change to the better much quicker than those that can't see past the wd's and believe things will get better.

Their focus is on " how bad they feel " verses the thought of "how much better I'll feel" in 7 to 10 days time in the mental dept as one realizes things are in fact getting better and you can sense it happening..After 3 weeks of struggling thru then change happens even faster to the better..

If you can't see a Dr about this, then try to stretch a taper out as long as you can..Its hard, you'll feel irritable and headachy, but the payoff will be that you will minimize any hard wd's when you do quit..Preparing yourself mentally is key though...Preparing yourself to fight those "I can't do this" thoughts that invade everyone during those first few days. After that, everything changes for the better..That thought, or ability to block it out makes or breaks many who try to do this on their own....Your in a tough spot no doubt, but it's not as hopeless as it appears....Have faith....
