I am 11 weeks and 4 days pregnant, I need some advice and support, I am addicted to pain medicine, percoset, 30 mgs, I detoxed, and ran out and was goin through withdrawals, so I got on methadone, ran out and am posed to be getting more tomarrow. my subox doc told me subox was not safe, and if he had known i was pregnant he would not of prescribed me those, he recommended methadone. I am scared, I had my first doc visit yesterday, and got a picture of my baby! I cried, I am sooo woried that I am gonna hurt my baby!!! I am 32 weeks pregnant and have used OxyContin only a handful of times in my pregnancy.. please don't judge me I am in a lot of pain.... but I had taken a drug screen at 28 weeks pregnant and everything came out negative bc I hadn't used. I am not addicted but I was wondering if I could get my baby taken?? I am in Pennsylvania. Any answer would be nice. Thank you.

I just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant and addicted to prescription pain meds mainly vicodens right now. What do I do how do I withdrawl safely? Please someone give me some advice. I'm a nervous wreck for my unborn.

I am on methadone, cause was told it was safe for the baby!!!!! Not percoset!!!!! My OBGYN, told me to go to my primary, and get a legal script before I go back to him.

What is he going to give you?  A scrpit for percocet??  They are going to give you percocet just to keep you from withdraweling?  That is odd, my dr would never do that, he said he would help me wean not support me in keeping on doing just because I was addicted.  I am not sure a dr would do that, but what do i know.  I am not a dr.  My PD only said he would help me wean but he wasn't going to give it to me just to give it to me to prevent w/d.  He wanted to safely wean me.  Good luck!!!

Thats great! See,,you got youself upset over a "what if" and in the end everything worked itself out. Not that you didn't have valid concerns, but slowing that mind down an having a little faith can do wonders at times. Best of luck to you and your fiancee'

Josh is dealing with it a lot better now, he is being nice again, and happy! We are goimng to do this together now!!!! He spoke with my counceler, and he gave him education about it, and is a lot calmer too now!!!! I feel so much better that everyone knows now!!! Excluding family members!! They can add un needed stress right now, and I need to relax!!!!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! Means the world to me that people care! I did it, I came clean with my OB, he told me to go to my primary, and get a legal script.... He isn't going to report me, he was understanding... I can't believe I did it!! I feel like a weight has been lifted!! I still have to deal with josh when he gets home tonight.. Which is gonna be a pain!!!!! So i am going to call my Counceler on speaker who has dealt with woman in my situation so that he can have a better understanding and hopefully he will be cooperative!!!!!! He doesn't knwo at all what its like, he has never been an addict so he does not understand!!!

BTW, you have such a long time to go, maybe you could wean from the 20mg a day.  Talk to the OB, he will help you.  I mean maybe he could come up with a weaning plan, one that doesnt' make you to sick or refer you to a dr that can help

I think the best thing to do is relax.  I know how hard it is, just think of your baby first, it was hard for me to tell the dr I had a probelm too!!  I was so scared, but I had to suck it up and seek help.  I am on subutex and no one in my family knows.  I really don't think they need to either, but that is me.  Yes, they do test the baby after it is born, so if you keep this from the Dr and you go have your baby and the baby is postive and you haven't said anything to your Dr and you don't have a legel scrpit, social services may get involved.  It depends on what state you are in too.  I mean if you took subutex, it would keep you from getting sick, I mean you could try that.  Maybe you could find a new sub dr.

My OB knows and he can't tell any one that I am on subutex. You on such a low dose too,  I would just tell the Dr and see what he says you should do.  I would just make sure he knows. What ever you do, I am here for you just like everyone else.

You may wan to introduce him to this site and let him see for himself what I along with others in here are going thru everytime we try to get away from opiates cold turkey. That there are "real" physical affects.  Insomnia, headaches, toilet problem, exhaustion, and the mental anguish as well etc. Ask him to just have an open mind "just for I minute". Try to tell him you want what he wants. To be free of them. Just a thought JMC. It's worth a try. You have to find a way to set your fears aside as I can feel your stress coming right thru the computer. That is not healthy for you or the baby.

I told him, my fiance, and he was not understanding, I have begged him to do research on opiate addicts so many times before and he never did! So ofcourse he wont understand, and now he wants to. about the methadone, I tried to explain it to him he freaked out when i told him i was only on 20mgs a day!!! that is a low mg, compaired to what i have seen before!! He thinks I want to take them to get high, he doesnt understand that its so Iwont be sick!!!!!! I wish he understood!!!! I pray to god this doesn't ruin us, cause I love him so much, he is the best thing thats ever happened to me... he is such a good man, and ihated lying to him about it!!! he doesnt understand my pain at all!!!!!!!! He doesnt know what its like to be an addict!!!! He has no clue how hard it is!!!! I just hope he comes to a point to where he supports me with love!!! Cause i love him more than anything in the world!!!

Please try to relaxe. You being so worried and scared is not any good for you and the baby. I have to make this fast but if you ever have any questions feel free to send them my way, I was once in your positon and i know how scary it can be. Methadone is safe for pregnancy. I was on opiates through out my whole pregnancy, (scared to death because I had no one to talk to and did'nt even want to tell my doctor because I was scared they would take my baby) My plan through my whole pregnancy was to cut down and be off of them by the time my daughter was born but unfortunatley it did'nt happen that way. You need to take as less as you can of the meds , don't let yourself take it if you really don't need it, the less the better of coarse. Just make sure that you stay totally open with your doctor, tell him/her everything and if you don't feel completley 110% comfortable with your doc, then you need to search for a new one. If your not comfortable then you will not get very far.
Again, I am sooo sorry that you have this pain, I know it all too well unfortunatley. Find someone close to you that you can talk to and confide in about anything and everything. I know that helped me alot, and most people will have negative opinions torwards you so if they really don't need to know that personal part of your life, then dont tell them.
Sorry that I have to run but I could'nt leave you hanging, and stay on this site, there are sooo many good people with such awesome advice and they DO NOT judge you. Please get as much rest as you can and relax, everything will work out for the better.

doing right by you baby is telling you obgyn not hiding it and hoping nothing bad happens it really scary but plz put your baby first what you say to your doctor in confidential between the two of you .He can not tell the father you would have too

If you want your baby to be safe and healthy then you are going to need to put your fears aside and tell your OBGYN this is not about what is going to happen to you its about your unborn baby and doing the right thing for he/or she .

I appreciate all of your concerns, but I can't tell my OB!!! I just can't!! Not until I know for sure my man wont find out!! Nor family members!!! They will dis own me! I am not over exaggerating at all! My Father said, if I do right by this baby he will be there for me, he will def dis own me if he finds out I am still on meds!

My sub doc sucked!! He was in it for the money!!!! I want to know if they test the baby after birth! I want to be clean before birth!! My Fiance can not find out, this will definetly ruin our relationship, and he will prob want to take the baby from me and leave me, especially cause I kept this from him for so long, he freaks out if i have a cigg, can you imagine if he knew I was on methadone?? I want to do this on my own so my family, and my man do not find out! I cant let it happen!!! I want my baby to be safe and healthy!! I'm really freaked out about it! PPL are telling me they will test the baby after birth and will be able to find out what I was taking while I was pregnant! I need professional advice, but am too afraid to talk to my OB, I don't know where he stands with addiction, and if he will report me!!!!!

wow, your sub dr really said that.  I am 36 weeks preggo and my sub dr is so sure that it is safe.  He has had three perggo who deliver on it and their babies were fine.  There have been studies that show sub produces less w/d in an infant.  I am on 4mg .  I mean  you could even wean if you wanted to, if it is safe.  Talk to the OB and and a new sub dr.
My sub dr is wonderful and not in it for the money - he takes insurance and he always calls me back or his nurse if I am having a problem.  If you want to PM me about subutex, please do.  My baby is fine.

Worried 878 is correct. TELL  YOUR OBGYN. Your baby should be ok and as long as you can taper off completely by the end of your pregnancy you and your baby should be ok.  I think rather than getting on methadone you should've talked to your doctor about tapering your percocet doseage.

I was on pain meds throughout my pregnancy and at the end on oxycodone. I used it for back pain and was under care of high risk OBGYN and pain mgmt. they tapered my doseage near the end of my pregnancy and I got lucky enough for my lil man to be born without addiction/dependancy to the med.

The risks for being on an opiate are addiction and depressed breathing if it's taken near the birth. Your baby won't have any physical defects due to the med.

Keep going and just breathe and take it slow.

Being in the medical profession..i would urge u to tell ur ob...u know..embarassment is oe thing..in the long run the only One who judges us is up above/and not here on earth...the safest thing is to let ur OB know the situation
If ur sub doc said methadone was safe during pregnancy/true it is safer than some narc habits/...i am not sure where he went to med school...nor is suboxone...both are better than some choices in narcotic use but chances are with both the baby will have side effects or possible addiction..both have long half lives and long wds...not sure whay he told u this..cept perhaps to bail due to legal consequences
..often sub docs are the low end of then totem pole as far as reputation and they r looking for income only taking patients..then u have those who r wonderful at what they do

I cant let my fiance or family find out, I am on methadone only, weening down! I want to be off by my 4th month or sooner. I am weening myself so i don't have to tell anyone!! I am scared ********, I lose sleep cause I dont want to hurt my baby, I never meant to be this way!!! I cry alone all the time, and act like I am fine when my man comes home! I am so scared, I cant take the chances of child services!!!! I am too scared to tell my ob, I was going to b4 I talked to my sis, she told me a few stories, she said they will automatically contact child services even if I am trying to do better, and am not taking opiates anymore!!!!!

Please listen to everyone here and call your doctor tomorrow. Be completely honest about whatever drugs you are/have been taking. They will be able to help you, and they deal with this all the time. This is the best thing you can do for your baby...and I can tell from reading your post that is what you want to do. Please let us know how it goes.

Okay...you saw your OB yesterday and didn't say anything about the drugs. That's all right.  Here's what you do :  Call your OB in the morning and tell the nurse/doctor everything. Do not hesitate to make the call.  They'll get you on track;they know exactly what to do...Don't worry...just call.

Yes what does you ob gyn say .They are using subutex durning pregancy now .Its far more dangerous to have you going on and off these drugs and going in and out of wd .What are you on now anything ?If you are going to take the methadone have your methadone doctor talk to your obgyn ..It kind of sad they did not just do a slow taper off the oxy with the small amout you were on the methadone is going to be alot harder to get off of.
