Rock bottom is a funny thing mine is different from yours and vise versa my best friend was battling addiction and in and out of detox centers always telling me this was her rock bottom each time she was deeper and deeper falling to a rock bottom she never knew existed until she vanished one day I called the cops put in a missing persons report her kids were thinking the worst as there was a hand gun missing from the safe in there home.. I got a tip from a person of the street that they saw her car at this dive hotel I begged the desk clerk to let me in and after a while he did, I found her with a gun on the dresser empty vodka bottles everywhere taco bell everywhere and she was passed out on the bed with feces all over the place she was half dressed and on deaths door I cleaned her up took her to the ER then back to detox then to inpatient treatment then back home she is 9mo sober looks like a million bucks. Her Rock Bottom took 5 years to find but she found it.
Hi.. welcome to MedHelp. Im not a doctor but have had many friends go through this. What ive seen is that the longer people remain addicted the more harm will be done. Substance abuse damages both physical and mental health, & robs people of their possessions, relationships, and self-respect. Ive seen some addicts end up losing everything before they reach a point where they are willing to change. Others hit rock bottom and lose relatively little. Basically when an individual reaches a point when they are ready for change then this is their rock bottom. It can ALWAYS get better.
