Scared of withdrawl symptoms from Hydrocodone

What should I expect if I quit Hydrocodone cold turkey? I have been taking 8 7.5/200 per day for 5 years - I want to quit so bad, but I am so scared of the withdrawls! Please help!

Youv'e done so well you should be so proud of your self and your mum will be smiling down on you keep it up the end is in sight your obviously a very strong determined person and you can look in the mirror and say this is me i am great and i can do anything i set my mind to i only wish i could do the same keep it up lv i think your amazing...

Nothing like a wake-up call to remind you that your body is more than strong enough to support itself without any aid, and made to survive through some really tough times.  The 2-3 day WD will suck bad, but you know you'll be happier and more alive afterwards.  Do it for yourself and gratsa hon!

day six feeling pretty fine. Days 1-5.... couldn't imagine living anymore. I'm smiling right now... that should tell you it only last awhile. If you need me.. i am here.

congrats on deceiding to quit! I think the most important thing to remember is that everyone is a little different. My day 1-2 were fine. Day 3-7 ouch but doable.  Ive seen that some people only wd for a few days....lucky bastards lol. It seems that your vicodin usage wasnt too high just more long than anything. I think your wds wont be too bad just because of limited mg per day.  I was at 150-200mg a day norco addiction, to ZERO over night.  NOT FUN at all but i lived to tell this long boring story lol.  Just remember that anytime you need to ask questions or advice come here first ,the people on the site have all been there and know how you feel.  Good Luck and keep us posted

I appreciate the kind words....It makes me feel so good - I absolutely hate this feeling - I want off this drug so bad and want my life to be back to normal! My body already aches and that is because i have something in my system. Tomorrow I will be completely out and scared to death! I called to try and get into rehab, but it seems that it is harder to get help than to get pills! Isn't that crazy? I promised my mom that I would get off these pills before she passed away 3 months ago.......and I will do this!

You can do this love, you CAN do this!!!! Thomas recipe I hear works very well, and post when u feel like it, everyone on here will support you. Dont look back after you have stopped, keep on truckin and know that you are worth so much!!!

Stopping means having you around a lot longer!

im on day 7 and feeling better each min.not sleeping great but that will come.day1-3 was tuff ,but after that you start to see the light and it get better.stay busey and hang in their.the people on this form are great!!!!!!!!!

congrats on making the decision to quit!  If you look on the health pages on the upper right part of this page, search for Thomas' Recipe.  This will tell you what you need in order to ease the pain of wds (ibuprofen, immodium, amino acids, fluids, etc).  It doesn't make it pain-free, but it helps.  Get your supplies before your last dose, because you won't feel like it once you start the process. From what I hear, everyone experience wds differently, but I can tell you that the first 3-5 days were the worst for me, and it has been steadily better since.  However, some symptoms of wd can continue for some time after (like sleep disturbances, etc), but nothing you can't handle.  Also in the health pages is a list of common wd symptoms if you haven't been through it before.  Best of luck!
