Hi Jander.. I'm sorry you are in this position.. it looks like you are going to tough this out then.. it is doable. I would get my hands on those norcos they will be more beneficial then you know. your wd will be tough and if you do not have a lot of money I would suggest the Valerian root is inexpensive and can get at a drug store for the anxiety and some tea also and some ensure to keep you in nutrition.. also tonic water has quinine in it been known to help with rls. the hylands restless leg also drug store is about 20 bucks I bought a knock off it also helps with the rls.. even bananas for the potassium. You have 6 kids are some old enough to help out ? Husband ? You can do this one minute at a time.. It is worth getting off the life sucking opiates... Hot showers our baths with Epsom salt.. also inexpensive. it forces magnesium into the muscles helping with the pain.. these are pretty much what I used a lot of will power and a attitude that I was going to war on my addiction and had no room for failure.. I wish you well and hopefully you will cancel the script. I have found the pain decreases after recovery.. You can do this.. lesa

I have been switching between oxycontin and morphine on and off for 2 years. I get scripts next Tuesday but I drive a long way and can't afootd it financially. I want to taper badly but can't afford or wait a week for the meds. I can get a few 5 mg norco but don't think it would even help. I wish I had options!

You are on a tough dose to cold turkey.......but many of us here have made such huge leaps and came out fine and clean.  With your responsibility I might suggest a rapid taper - - morphine is no fun to kick but it doest hit as hard as fentanyl or last as long as methdone/sub. Do you have any Norcos left?  Only as a last resort should those be brought in......but the real facts are that you need emetrol for the stomach - immodium for loose stools......Amino Acids - L-Tyrosine for fatigue and glued to bed feeling - take 500-1500mg before breakfast on empty stomach. Try theanine for anxiety - natures valium.........lot of people say to use only herbals - - st johns wort, kava kava, valerian root - - same things dont work the same for everybody.  But the amino's are FDA approved and you cannot overdose on them - - should you take too much the excess is merely eliminated though urine.  Keep up with other supplements - fish oil is a good one. A decent multi vitamin - possibly a little extra bump of B-6 and B-12 to go with the multivitamins.     AND keep posting with further concerned, questions, or just to share

Wow, that is a very large amounts of opiates to c/t.  Is there any way to put a taper plan together?  Are you getting them prescribed from a doctor?  If so, can he/she help you with a taper plan?  How long have you been taking them?

All the questions above are very pertinent.  No matter what, if you c/t it, you are more likely to be spewing vomit out the top and having explosive diarhea out the back.  You are probably really constipated while on the meds.  Well, when you quit taking them, your abdominal system goes in overdrive to eliminate EVERYTHING very quickly.  I apologize for being so graphic but you are scaring me to death trying to c/t off such a high dose.

Any chance you could see an addiction specialist?  I am not talking about one who prescribes methadone or suboxone, I am talking about one who would do something like an accelerated 3 or 8 day detox depending on what they think is necessary.  I did this and it literally was something I could not do on my own.  IM me if you would like to know more.  I am not getting paid by them is why I am not mentioning their names.   Also, it is not the Ultra Rapid Detox as it is a very different method with much better results.

Good Luck!

Thank you very much for the encouragement! I have 6 kids, 5 to get ready for school every morning. How do you do that when you feel like you can't move or you will die?

oh another thing i wanted to tell you...this is something I tell quite a few mothers on here who are facing WD. (I always swear Im going to copy my post and paste it into a journal for future reference and forget to do it and have to type it up all over again, LOL) but anyways... I know you are very scared of WD right now and I often like to compare it to when you are pregnant and about to have your baby. Since you are a mom you should be able to relate. WD is, in a loose way, similar to being pregnant with your first child. You are scared of the unknown and scared of the pain to come. but you KNOW that baby HAS to come out at some point, you cant stay pregnant forever!! You resolve yourself to the fate of the pain of labor and delivery, it is inevitable. WD is the same way..you know it's going to be difficult and painful and you know theres no way to avoid it.  But, you got through the labor and delivery of that baby, didn't you? Sure you may have nearly bent the metal bed rail handles off the bed it hurt so bad, but you got through it! And you had a beautiful, sweet baby to show for it when all was said and done.  With WD, you suffer through the inevitable pain and guess what, you still have something good to show for it when youre done! A new, CLEAN life! Life free of slavery to those pills! A life where you can be a real mom to your kids again. Not one who is always preoccupied with either chasing a high from pills, counting pills, worrying about where the next set of them are coming from! A mom who can give her full attention and love to her children again!   Trust me, its a battle worth fighting for!

well, youre going to have a lot of tomorrows to start off without the use of a pill so you have to just get used to it. For a lot of us, that was one of THE hardest parts of quitting-- missing that 1st dose when you get up. Trust me, I know how hard it is. I have two young kids too, and its difficult as it is to get my oldest up for school , get him breakfast, pack his lunch, a shower, dressed and off to school on time each morning and thats with his younger brother usually waking up during this and throwing a wrench into it , lol. Next year will be even harder for me as my youngest will start kindergarten and I'll have to get TWO Of them up on time each morning (and they are both boys and fight a lot!) So its definitely hard learning to live on the other side, without a pill(s) to start the day but its Do-able, you'll soon see. Dont expect miraculous results immediately. ITs a slowww progression but one worth waiting for.
Hey- the good news for you- since youre quitting right now, the worst of your WD's should be done by the time its time to take your kids out trick or treating on halloween! Look forward to that!
also about worrying about "tomorrow'...i saw a sign in front of a church the other day that said "Dont worry about Tomorrow...God is already there."  Im not a religious person, but that was pretty neat, I thought. Maybe words you can get somethign from..

I think you have to do this one day at a time -- try not to worry about tomorrow today.  If u r that concerned and can't get it out of your mind, maybe you can save the 1/2 for tomorrow.  Try not to "project" (I know, easier said than done).  Keep posting and reading to help the time pass.  Best of luck to you.

Thank you so much. I have been watching this forum for about a week and it has given me a more positive outlook. I want to make it through this. I am really worried about being able to function enough to take care of my children. I have looked at the Thomas recipe, and I will try it! I will need all the support that I can get. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. God bless you all!

that is a huge leap into CT'dome  but people have jumped off higher than that before. If you havent already, stock your supplies you will need for detox before major WD sets in. Get some Immodium or Pepto, some Gas X, some iburprofen or whatever OTC pain reliever you use, maybe some bananas. You can read the Thomas recipe if you want to try that, not sure you are familiar with it or not. Its basically a bunch of vitamins and such that help.  Keep reading and posting, arm yourself with knowlege and you will also get a great deal of support and advice here.
