Nice to see you Kyle, Hey Living, Have you ever done any sort of aftercare? You are so wise to beware and see your past patters here.Whether it be an addiction councilor, NA,AA or a group from church that deals with addiction. I do think the longer we are clean of our drug , the better we are able to resist. Changing your routine that reminds you of using is also important, Friends, family members that enabled you, etc. You sound great, and so glad your being proactive. I believe you CAN be really good at being a clean girl!!!
Everyones different, I prayed to god to remove the obsession I had with them. (he has)
I do have a fleeting thought every now and again. But the thought of how I was,,......,chasing pills, cutting them in half, count down to refill day,,,pharmacist looking at me like an addict...shady deals.....all that crap reminds me of what it was like,,,,,dead but alive.
not to jump on the aftercare bandwagon...but it does make it soooo much nicer and helps you keep those thoughts at bay.....
much support

I had to jump in on this one. First, I really don't think that you can re-train your brain; the mental side of getting and staying clean is a life-long struggle. Not giving in to temptation is not a secondary reflex. Clean time under your belt is a double-edged sword - the longer you're clean, the better you deal with the voices in your head, BUT, the longer you're clean, the more comfortable you get; you may forget about the times you've detoxed, and start thinking that you can handle just one because you're back in control.
You sound like you're aware of the "card games" that your head plays relative to using. Be strong, and be aware.
Hello, over time cravings do seem to be less frequent and possibly not as strong, having said that a very important part of managing this disease is for you to plan for and tackle each time one occur.Which will also mean cutting of all sources. In the meantime congrats on reclaimng your life, just take care of your body and hour by hour you will start to feel the benefits. It is so worth it living opiate free.Good luck and take care

Hello and I wish you the best of luck in getting clean. I am 30 days clean today, and I still have cravings. They are not as bad or as strong as earlier on, but they are still there. Just tell yourself NO and stay on track! Mind over matter. One day at a time, and I promise you will be seeing the light soon...good luck!!!!
i dont know if they ever really go away, but they do get fewer and more time apart as time goes on. I don't even have 3 months yet & i have already noticed going days now without any cravings or even considering taking any vicodin. The only problem with that is when a craving does hit, it seems like the end of the world because i am no longer used to having them all the time. I am still working on that. You are still in the first stage, and especially with suboxone, it will take about a month or so. But don't let that discourage u, time will continue to pass and before u know it you will be feeling the benefits of living opiate free. Hang in there, it's totally worth it!
